The problem arises that most of us have illiterate ancestors, and if not of a royal lineage, are related to peasants, slaves, merchants, farmers, bastards, tradesmen, winemakers, hunters and food gatherers.
Finding anything beyond written records of leaders, royaly or church leaders is highly doubtful, and proving lineage to Caesar or Charlemagne is tenuous at best.
But very cool bragging rights.

I am an Ultra Right Conservative. Read Geneses 4 16-18 Adam and Eve had two son Cain and Abel Cain killed Abel Cain moves to the lands east of Eden to the lands of Nod ,Where he Knows his wife and is married. Who named the lands east of Eden Nod? the resident of course. Who did he marry? not a sister of sibling because as you read further you would find that the next child was Seth. than after that Adam and Eve had many more children. This story is chronological based writing so the extra children did not come until after the marriage of Cain and his wife. I am the "others" the bible speaks of. I am not a child of Adam, nor Abraham. I am a North man, A celt. My god is Oden, Father of Thor. Oden be Praised. May I die in battle.

Noah and his family came from Adam and Eve. And everybody since have come from Noah.
Everyone on the earth can trace back to Adam and Eve.

Noah vs. Adam
It is called cut-n-paste, why stop at Noah when you can pretend it back to Adam, easier to paste it all in, than to paste half.
If they're tracing it to Noah, most likely they just trace it to some early church member who was recognized by revelation as a descendant or they have Native American blood, so they think they're Jewish.
The whole ancestor thing comes from a belief that you can get your ancestors into heaven by making them a Mormon after they die. Sure their obsession with post death baptizing is a little strange, but what religious practice isn't? Can't argue with those sweet genealogy databases the Mormons have, so at least some good comes from it.

to go past Noah is impossible for the records were destroyed.
But doing my own family tree, and getting very deep into it, and being multiple Native Indians.... I ended up with the conclusion the Natives are the descendants of the Tribe of Dan. Then i went hunting, and found multiple items to back this up. Still doing more research to understand it all more, very interesting I must say.

I am Mormon and have traced my genealogy back 7 generations. I know of no Mormon or anyone else making the claim that they have traced it back to Adam and Eve. That seems like a stretch and it also seems like a stretch to say someone has made such a claim.

acctually you wont belive how many people spend their entire lives doing their geneology and still dont get to Adam and Eve (though it always goes back to them) but about the "stopping at Noah" thing why stop there when you can go the entire way? (makes it more exhilerating)

Ask them to prove it to you. It can be very simple to ask a Mormon to share his genealogy. Go like this (I'll help ya out a little) " Hi, Can I see your genealogy." BOOM! you just answered yourself a question without making people think that Mormons are proud, or are having a contest with their genealogy, on Y!A. Ask and ye shall receive knock and it shall be opened up to you!!!!

Neither; we all had to start from someone since rule # 1 of Bio-Genesis is: "Life must come from life". Since our first parents on earth were Adam & Eve ... that is why you hear this, like it or not ! If their names were Joe and Mary ... well then , you would hear that - but they are not named this - sorry for living !!!
