That quote/question from Friedrich Nietzsche, but still applies. Which one do you think? Why would God create humans, seems like either a mistake to make us flawed or we are an experiment (which would makes sense). Also why would God create the world and humans if not for an experiment or his ego and humor?

I do, for the record. I just don't understand why people refuse to believe that he even walked this earth, claiming that is was a long time ago and things could have gotten misinterpreted. You could say the same thing about any historical figure, about Ferdinand Magellan, or Charlemagne, or Cleopatra and Marc Antony. Originally, all we had to work with was dusty old scrolls, but no one questions whether or not they existed. Some people will say that those who recorded Jesus life and teachings were biased because they were religious, but if you look closely, most written records from that time period had religious elements to them. Why is one more acceptable than the other, is it just personal choice or does it have a proven method behind it?

Whatever you believe, I ask that you be polite and courteous to others. I will respect your opinions if you respect the opinions of others and my own opinions. Keep it civil, or don't bother. Take your insults and cutdowns somewhere else.

Peace and Love to you both, and to all those who answer.

Could it be that the story appealed to people, especially the virgin birth idea, so new religions like Christianity kept repeating the same story?

"Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

The more our hearts bow down in meditation upon the eternal and heavenly and spiritual things of Him the more we are brought face to face with the wonderful truth enunciated by the apostle Paul to the saints in Ephesus: "For WE ARE HIS HANDIWORK, created in Christ Jesus with a view to good works which God prepared beforehand. . . " (Eph. 2:10)

We are BLESSED!

Does anyone else have trouble understanding how a person who shows great rationality and integretiy of thought in all other areas of life can believe in the Christian God?

Now I'm not bashing anyone. I love Christians, a lot of my very close friends are Christians, and I defend them more often than not, espcially here in R&S. But it's hard for me to comprehend how somone who is a great person, kind and compassionate, fun loving and great sense of humor, and very intelligent could believe in the God of the Old Testament and the salvation plan of the new.

Other desits, atheists, and non-Christians in general: do you ever wonder this, too?

For a spell a few months ago, I tried to understand Christianity with logic and reason. The more answers I received to my questions, the less the Bible made sense logically. I settled back firmly into my agnostic beliefs.

This, however, has led me to a question for any Christian who wants to answer. During that spell of questions, several answerers provided me with answers that were clearly carefully thought out. Some said that I could not apply logic to the Bible. And they explained why.

But here's what I don't understand: Logic and reasoning are natural human processes. In fact, Christians use reasoning to understand what they believe. The Christians who answered my questions used reasoning processes to explain their answers. Some of the logic itself was flawed, but the reasoning was there.

So, why can't I apply logic and reasoning to the Bible? And what do you think I should do when the Bible does not meet the standards of logic and reasoning?

If you have some moral objection to abortion... just don't get one. Everyone has different values, beliefs, and moral obligations. Your personal rights and beliefs end at the beginning of your personal space bubble.

By creating laws against abortion you are only making it more dangerous for those who need to have abortions. Believe it or not the fetus is a part of the woman's body until that umbilical cord is severed, and therefore it is as much her right to have it removed just as it is to have her appendix or tonsils removed.

If you really believe it makes god angry and should be stopped, why worry unless you yourself get one? Let the one's who decide to have an abortion suffer the consequences of their own actions, be they real or imagined... Live YOUR life, and worry about YOUR responsibilities.

Instead of saying how bad the murderer is...they say how bad the homosexual is.

It is responses like these that lead to more hate crimes and murder of this type.

What does this say of the character of the fundamentalist Christians? What does this say of the spirituality of these so-called Christians? Their postings are not of God. Are the fundamentalists possibly the Anti-Christ?

Your thoughts?
