Why is it that in some bibles Jesus' words are typed in red in the New Testament, but the words of God in the Old Testement are the same black print as the rest of it? Are the words of God less important than the words of Jesus? I would think that God takes precedence, or at the very least equal billing, but somehow this isn't the case. Can anyone tell me why?

He saved my sheep when they were about to be barbecued by wandering cats.

I prayed to god but nothing happened, after I started crying, he must have heard me high up in the trees in his little tree house!

He came and saved the day!

what a hero!

Are you judging them based on the actions of a few?

I find most of them to be rather pleasant.

Do you think Thomas Aquinas would consider them god or an aspect of the divine?

Should I build a temple to them?

or ask him to reveal himself, or to open our hearts, etc...

Don't all of these require a belief in God? Is it another way of saying "Stop thinking about it and just believe"?

If I claim something about christianity I can get asked by fundementalist christians what biblical authority there is for that statement.

Now if I provide that I am told that I am interpreting the bible wrong.

That could be why there are so many disagreements chruch splits and divisions, there are now 37,000 seperate church groups (you will know them because they are one)

If the bible could be interpreted on its own, or in light of other passages it wouldnt create so many differing chains of thought.

some say the holy spirit does the interpreting but then does that mean that the holy spirit interprets the bible different for everyone, in such a case it can hardly be authoritative bacause its based on individual "feelings"

Should the bible be interpreted in light of the fist century apostles and church leaders initial teaching. Well I think when it is it creates just one church. jesus said it would and it did, it today is called the Catholic Church.

I mean most people know that breaking a mirror doesn't really bring you years of bad luck, or stepping under a ladder or walking backwards would make your mom's breasts shrink ( Don't ask!!) but subconsciously or not, most avoid those things even when they reaalllyy know it's some sort of irrational belief.

I know that most evidence points to the non existence of God yet sometimes I'll do the cross when I'm really nervous..(like kissing your lucky hat or something)..
Is it common?

I read someone talk about this in one of their posts.
If the religion is clearly a version of another religion, except with a few changes that man made and admitted to making, then how can they possibly follow it and say it is god's will? I'm obviously talking about Christianity, but other religions apply too. Many Christians KNOW that their belief is a branch off the orthodox religion that people changed without gods permission? Wouldn't that OBVIOUSLY be the wrong religion, seeing as its changed from the original?

I have nothing against atheists and this is not an attack. But the athiest i have met so far, have all been very intolerant of religion. I know that thiest "Condem you to hell" but that is the main belief of monothiesm. Alot of the time atheist have said i have a mental deseise just becuase i believe in god. So if you hate religions becuase they are so intolerant well going round and "trolling" on thiest is a hypocrisy do you agree.

Warranted no hope?

First I want to say I hope and pray everyone here has happiness health love and financial success in thier life,

But my question is this: It's pretty easy for people to say their life is wonderful when you have all the things I mentioned above....

But should you face a time where you are in a situation of enormous calamity, a massive earthquake, hurricaine( which many people have suffered) anyways you lost part of your limbs, your family perished, you lost your wordly posessions, where would you draw your Strength, Hope and desire to persevere from??
Where would you draw your strength from?

YHWH or Yahweh is explained in the book of Exodus as "I am Who I am". Since the name of God was considered so sacred Jews started to call him Adonai, which means Lord.
Later, someone put YHWH and Adonai together and came up with Jehovah. I was just wondering if you knew that and what you're thoughts were on it.
