The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins is an excellent read including this topic. One of the beginning chapters, 3, maybe, points out that there are tons of smaller religions/churches with just as much evidence that they have some truths just like Christianity that people would call you crazy if you believed in. Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, for instance. There is even a Reformed Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, as there are a dozen or more 'denominations' of Christianity.
I think Christianity is a superstition that does make one feel good and comforted, just like not walking under a ladder makes you feel like you've done something good to protect yourself...

I should believe so, as most do sub-conciously revert to magical or religous signatures to bring them hope or 'luck'. But actually, the evidence, if you think about from the view of a Religous person, points to God being real. No other religion is as muchly knocked down by others then Christianity.(Spelling) And of course, how do you explain the everyday miracles most underestimate and understate to as 'coincidence'?(Spelling) But out of religious statement, yes, I believe it is common as a sign of nervousness.
Legends, Luck, etc are Superstition. Believing in God is a Matter of being able to see the things happening around you, looking into the spiritual world as well as the physical. Most people believe in God because they want to go to heaven,
I believe because it's Obvious to me. If you think what I just said was...complex, then imagine this. I am 5-10 Yrs old, no older.

NO, God is real and he loves you and that is why he gave his son to die on the cross for you. By doing that he gave us grace. And heres the thing when you have God you dont need luck, God blesses us. And yet you believe that there is evidence pointing to the non existence of God there is Way more evidence out there that says he is real. The human body is evidence to that. Its so complex that someone with great power could have only have created something like us.. and that is God!!!

I don't believe in any superstition, but I truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, my God and Savior.
You are believing in old wives tales which are witchcraft, sorcery, divination and down right evil. The practices are from the old evil queen of heaven pagan worship garbage. The only protection and provision that you have is God. God created all things regardless of Darwin and his theory of evolution. Man will do anything to keep from submitting to God and being righteous instead of evil.

Nothing wrong with taking a little comfort from embracing the irrational in times of trouble as long as the condition doesn't last once normal service resumes.

Yup, completely normal. We were created with a "God-sized" hole in our souls. Because we have some idea of Who God is & what He does, when we run into problems, our natural tendency is to reach out to Him.

it is very common, because as human beings sometimes we can be vulnerable and weak, and sometimes we need help and support. and it always feels good to think there's someone like GOD taking care of u.

Is weird to "believe" in superstitons the same way you believe in God--assuming that you believe in God
believing in God is not the same as superstittion
Superstition is a "belief "in something unfounded or like old wivies tales
