Mercy is the opposite of justice.
Justice is getting what you deserve. According to God's law, we all deserve hell, for we are all sinners.
Mercy is getting what you don't deserve. Jesus covered our sinfulness and we reap the rewards of his sacrifice.
Give me mercy over justice any day!
