Has anyone here read a history book? The primary cause of the potato famine was the BRITISH taking the majority of their edible food for "provisions" leaving only diseased potatoes. Since the Irish didn't have anything else to eat, they kept cultivating these diseased potatoes.

Actually it was the fault of the English gentry. Irish farmers farmed loads of wheat and other grains as well as cattle and sheep. However, all of that was to pay the landlords for living and working on the land.
Potatoes were used to feed the population. When blight came, the English refused to let the farmers and people keep the grain or livestock and famine ensued since the only crop they could eat was blighted.
What about fishing you may say, waterways were also the property of the landowners and only they could fish in them.
The worst hit county was my home, Roscommon, the National Famine Museum and Famine monument are in that county. counties that had coast were less effected than landlocked since the other counties could rely on fisherman.
The Irish peoples faith had a positive psychological affect on them, either the ones that stayed or immigrated. It was a terrible time and if they didn't have faith Ireland would have never recovered.

Surely I hope you are just joking. For if you are not I strongly suggest that you R-E-A-D about it in a history book as to the T-R-U-E cause of the Irish potato famine

The people can only blame themselves. Taking responsibility is a lovely thing. Atheists didn't cause the famine, just like god didn't.

There is no one to blame, except for the mismanagement of the land that caused the potato famine.

It was my fault.
Sorry.
God had nothing to do with it. God only does things like butterflies and bumper crops. All bad things are the result of the Big Atheistic Devilworshiping Gay Universalist Youth of Socialism. You can call us the Bad Guys.
