I have nothing against atheists and this is not an attack. But the athiest i have met so far, have all been very intolerant of religion. I know that thiest "Condem you to hell" but that is the main belief of monothiesm. Alot of the time atheist have said i have a mental deseise just becuase i believe in god. So if you hate religions becuase they are so intolerant well going round and "trolling" on thiest is a hypocrisy do you agree.

Not all atheist are like that. I don't care what you believe about god. Just keep your beliefs to yourself. There is no reason that public school children need to learn about creation or pray before school.

For an atheist, belief in supernatural beings is a delusion, which can be tolerated as long as the delusion does no harm. In recent years, some theists, notably some right-wing Christians, have become more militant about expressing their beliefs, to the point of suppressing scientific research, influencing public policy, and even personally literally attacking "enemies". This is not tolerable, and so we are seeing atheists who are reacting to what they perceive as a growing danger to human knowledge, freedom and civilization. Intolerance begets intolerance.

It's not so much about the belief as it is the attitude.

I understand that monotheistic religions do believe that non-believers will be condemned to hell. While I disagree with the belief, the belief itself is not what I have an issue with.

What I have a problem with is the condescending attitude I receive from many (not all, but many) Christians about the subject. I know what the belief is, and I know that it is a Christian goal to want to save my soul and all, but the excessive aggressiveness is unnecessary.

I am a Christian, but the people that I have known to be the most intolerant were "religious" people. I have never had an atheist attack my beliefs...well at least not to my face.

And THIS was not an attack?!? The "intolerance" you get from atheists probably comes from annoying them with parrot, clichee lines such as "Jesus is my Lord and he shall save me" or "I'll pray for you". And if you look around you'll see that most trolls are not the Atheists but the Christians who start questions just to show how terrible atheism is... Go figure.

you just havent met very many atheists. and if you have then it has been by very bad coincidence that they have all been like that. but then ask this, how would you know if you met a tolarant atheist? someone who wont curse you out just because you believe in something else? tolerance can often hide a persons beliefs from other people because though they wont hide their beliefs, neither will they shout about them. i have no problem with religion. but back to your question yes it does sound like hypocrisy.

I am an atheist, and I see many such distortions about us as the one you offer here. If you are a Christian, you should read your Bible and see that it is a sin to bear false witness against atheists, to violate the Golden Rule toward them, to not love them as you do yourself, etc. Stop being a hypocrite! Before you say anything, ask if it is true, and is it necessary? I doubt that you really know any atheists.

I would agree. However, people will eventually react if attacked often enough and the majority of theists feel it necessary to shove their beliefs down everyones throat. I believe what I believe and if you believe something different great. Don't criticize what I believe or try to force (sorry convert) me to believe what you believe and I won't ignore you. That is my philosophy. Of course I am not an atheist.

Nope. It's just your imagination. You will find that atheists do not attack religion in general, but rather focus their counter attacks on Fundamentalism which relies on ignorance to control the masses.

I just have a problem with religions that are intolerant of others. Perhaps that makes me intolerant myself but why should bigotry be acceptable
