Do Christians discount the Old Testament?

It seems that many Christians on here are quoting from the Old Testamnet, but many others, when someone mentions violence in the Old T., say something like ' But In the NEW Testament its different..."

I thought they were both the Bible, and Christians live by the Bible, so why not all of it?

I do shift work, I work night shift and work many weekends. I have trouble going to Mass due to my work schedule. I'm either having to work, sleeping for work, or exhausted from work.
If I watch a Mass on TV, is this as good, or at least good enough?
Please only Catholics answer, and only serious, thoughtful answers, please.

Hypothetical Question -

Tomorrow we wake up to find that terrorist have detenated nukes all around the world. World Governments have decided to merge and appoint a leader who immediatly installs a plan that all mankind take some sort of mark on their hand or forhead which shows their alligence to him and the new world government system and also allows people to buy and sell. Due to the chaotic state of the world, failure to take the "mark" would result in the death sentence. On top of all this, the Christian Church taught "pre-tribulation rapture" has not taken place.

Seriously, what now? Answers open to those of all beliefs and those with no beliefs. I put that last part in for the Christians.

It is getting outrageous in here. Across the board, there are wonderful people and some complete jerks. Surprisingly, most of the worst, most personal insults come from those who supposedly follow the "golden rule". According to the Biblical rules, isn't judging, lying, and pushing people away from your beliefs a "sin"?

it seems logical
seeing that most Americans are Christians you can only assume that you the jury will also have mostly Christians members
if people get out of it by claiming temporary insanity and some have gotten out by claiming they were sleepwalking and even more outrages due to a massive quantity of sugar they consumed which he claimed drove him crazy

Today's world seems to be very skeptical, especially in issues regarding religion. If Jesus were to come again, would he still be belived in or thought as an imposter? How could he prove his divinity? Surely many would think of his miracles as special effects. What do you think? Would you believe?

I'm having trouble figuring out what to do here...

If you were in a choice to come out for a funeral or visit one last time to see your parent while they are alive (mom may not survive). Which would you do?

A second trip is out of the question financially and I cannot stay indefinitely.

I work with a lot of Mormons and feel so bad for them. I have a heavy heart for them because I know what it can be like to be confused. I caught my brother reading the Book of Mormon during one of his low self esteem episodes where he fell into the attraction of being a god himself. But Jesus called Robert home and he is going back to church and was recently married at Christ Church Episcopal.

But what can we do to help Mormons know Christ? They don't believe that Jesus is God. They are like the Muslims, as they think He was just a prophet. They even think that they are going to be gods. I sure would like to help them find the truth amidst their confusion in the desert.

in declaring that only Catholics can go to heaven. I also believe that the Catholic Church in Rome should help pay for the millions of dollars in settlements as the result of the sexually related lawsuits against its priests and bishops. Afterall the pope is the CEO of the church and should be responsible for the conduct of its priests.

This is how your NWT has translated these scriptures.. (15) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; (16 )because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. (17 )Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist

I noticed that the word - other- has been inserted..This is all talking about Christ..exactly what OTHER things did he created and what OTHER things were made to exist through him? I don't understand..
