it seems logical
seeing that most Americans are Christians you can only assume that you the jury will also have mostly Christians members
if people get out of it by claiming temporary insanity and some have gotten out by claiming they were sleepwalking and even more outrages due to a massive quantity of sugar they consumed which he claimed drove him crazy

All humans here should be judged by other humans by what they DO, not what they THINK ! I do not favor any "not guilty by reason of insanity." They all are guilty if they murder.

Only simple, unspiritual people here still believe in devil or demon possessions. Jesus Christ Incarnated down here on earth with us from 7BC - AD30; and then He ascended into the Paradise Father-Infinite and received ALL POWER in Heaven and on earth ! "There is no Power but of God" "All Power is from God" Thus, Jesus, in AD30 "bound the dragon" and WON the war in heaven. Rev 12:7-9

These few devils and fallen angels are still alive; but they have now absolutely NO power to enter into or to influence any human ! Humans all have free will to be good or average or evil or sinning or iniquitous as they so choose each moment. "The devil(s) made me do it" is just a stupid copout from God and Reality.

He the Spirit of Truth (Just like Jesus and God as One Spirit) is now freely poured out upon all flesh and HE protects each and every Human (no matter how good or bad they are) from any evil spirits or demonic forces !

It still remains true that silly humans fears can actually kill the human body, but not the soul or spirit or mind or personality.

"Unreasoned fear is a master intellectual fraud practiced upon the evolving Human soul."

Peace and progress,
Brother Dave, a Jesusonian

While you may need to be convincing, the court is not going to let you back out into society without seeing if you aren't a risk to yourself and society. Some time spent at a Rubber Ramada would be a start, and possibly the end of the road through the legal system.

'Demonic Possession'. What a convenient way to pass the buck and avoid responsibility. Something that some Americans-even the Christian kind-seem to be very good at.

It is not a legal defense, even if you actually were. You would do better to claim insanity as a defense. Also, the judges would never even allow you to enter that as a plea seeing as he is their master.

It would be an insanity defense. They'd test you for it by having you spin your head all the way around and projectile vomiting pea soup on command.

If you blame the devil for your action you will also have to admit your free choice allowed him to help you commit a crime. You would be guilty anyway if you could find anyone to believe you.

If this was the case, then I could simply go out and waste as many people as I wanted right now. How could they prove I wasn't possessed by the devil? Ridiculous.

See links. Two true stories where mothers killed theri children and got off with insity defense. Both were "Strong Christians".
