dont believe that the Catholic church spiritually is very dead! i would advise you to leave! the repetitions of hail marys and our fathers will not atone for sins we must all pray sincerely for forgiveness and not ask pastors to pray for us! Jesus is the Way to the Father not a priest and i believe the pope is helping in the deceit of many people! its sad that a lot of Catholics don't realize this!

You don't sound like you are a Catholic.
First, the recent publication was not from the Pope. The Pope didn't say anything. It was the CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH. Second, your acceptance of the interpretations is laughable. Check out the real thing.
Second, the Pope is Bishop of Rome. The papacy is divided into what we could recognize as "States" with Bishops (appointed by past and present Popes) reigning over their region. In fact, the "States" uniting (USA) was modeled off of the papacy states. Yes, the Bishops & ArchBishops should be responsable for their Priests they hire. We call this PENANCE. We all pray for the healing of the victims.
However, I am miffed major that the US govt has their "Boys Club" (pun intended) where they won't make penance. Sure they let Senitors appoint themselves to appropriation commities to "Groom" 14 year old boys, but since they're the govt ...well, they only pay $50,000.00 IF it's reported within 180 days. This extends to their Senitors, Congressmen, Police, Homeland Security officers, Teachers, and any other government titled job. Why is a cop giving it to a kid worth less than a priest? IMO, cops are more scary. It doesn't seem like the govt's praying for the victims, but making it easier for their own to keep their "Boys Club."

If the Pope said that only Catholics can go to heaven, then the Pope was wrong. Did he say that? That surprises me.
Perhaps it was something taken out of context.
And yes, the Church should take responsibility for the sexual assaults by priests. This scandal was covered up for too long, and others must have been victimized as a result.

The Pope did not say that only Catholics could go to heaven. He said that the Catholic Church is the only fully true church . he did say that there are elements of truth in other Churches as well. People like to leave that out!It is typical of the anti-Catholic media. This has ALWAYS been the teachings of the Catholic Church since some people decided they did not want to follow the hierarchy that JESUS left behind and started Protestantism.

The Pope never said that. You are misinformed. You should do research before making statements like that.
Also, the Pope is like the president. The president cannot be held responsible for the actions of the local government officials...that would be ridiculous. And, just a side note, it's the faithful that ultimately pay for the crimes of some wayward priests. Those of us in the pews making normal salaries...not the rich.

Hello,
Lilmisskato answered part one already. He is taken out of context on the last few occasions.
It is crass legal stupidity to pay out millions of dollars in settlements. The Bishops and priests involved in this should have been turned in to the authorities and properly tried.
By doing these payouts you open the flood gates for all sorts of false claims as well from people who will see a gold mine.
Ah which reminds me; I need to put about $30,000 into my home for uprgades... hmmm seems I may remember old father Joe made some pass at me when I was an altar boy!
Time I should collect!
Regards,
Michaelo Kelly

Please to be careful.
You might not be a Catholic, as belief in the supremacy and correctness of the pope when he speaks "from the chair" in matters of the faith is part of the tenets of Catholicism and not open to debate nor question.
It does seem odd the the current pope, who attended the Second Vatican Council should make such a pronouncement. The ecumenical movement, embracing all faiths as being or having positive aspects and possibly being how God spoke to those of different cultures, societies, etc., was one of the major advancements of the faith at that time.
Benedict has been moving towrads a much less progressive church and is aleintating many other faiths and person throughout the world.
As to the current sexual scandal that is occurring in the church, it is simply that it has now come to light, as it has been occurring from many centuries.
May it be well with you, my now "Protestant" friend.

The people that did the molestation are wrong and the people in charge of the church. That is why sin is miss understood. If you believe in Jesus, then you are not under the ten commandments and God will remember your sins no more. If you do not believe in Jesus, now you are under the ten commandments and you have to not sin, which is totally impossible. That is were these priest and other people get hung up on sin.
DO THE WILL OF GOD
You need to find a home church, be obedient, follow his word, be baptized with the holy spirit, show your self approved and do the will of God (Mark 16: 15 - 18)

Hello, Don:
Benedict seems to be swinging the gavel back to pre-Vatican 2, half a century ago.
There was no salvation outside the Catholic Church before then, and Mass was Latin. Benedict is a traditional Catholic and does not like the modern trends, like ordaining women priests.
The Church has gone through many changes, and if my understanding of the prophecies are correct, Protestants will influence the Catholic Church to return to the dark-ages when the church influenced Governments to enforce their laws.
This can be understood in a Bible code that identifies some of the last day problems at: http://abiblecode.tiripod.com
Blessings, Balaam

How is the Pope wrong in declaring the truth? The Catholic Church IS the one true Church. This is historical and biblical fact.
