It is getting outrageous in here. Across the board, there are wonderful people and some complete jerks. Surprisingly, most of the worst, most personal insults come from those who supposedly follow the "golden rule". According to the Biblical rules, isn't judging, lying, and pushing people away from your beliefs a "sin"?

sun will shine again: stick around, there are some wonderful people in here. All beliefs are well represented in here, it's just that some apparently cannot answer without using insults. The good ones are worth the effort.

Great question! I agree with you.

I'm convinced that if people defend their beliefs by insulting others, those same people are not sincere in their practice of their particular faith/belief system/faith tradition and must not be taken seriously.

I agree with you 100%. It is very hard to understand how those who label themselves "Christians" cannot disagree with another denomination of Chrisitanity without insulting, bashing and spewing hatred. As you mentioned in your question about Biblical teaching. There are many Scripture verses about speaking to others with respect.
Eph 4:29 Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
James 3:6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness that can ruin your whole life. It can turn the entire course of your life into a blazing flame of destruction, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

This verse pretty well says it all about those who express hatetred toward other Christians. 1 John 3:10 So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the Devil. Anyone who does not obey God's commands and does not love other Christians does not belong to God.

I never give them the satisfaction of answering their hateful questions.

Really. My fingers keep getting burned when I hit the keys. Ouch! They aren't in the "let's discuss" business, they are in the dominate and kill business. My god or die. Too much of that going around these days. Brainwashing is very effective. We now have a bunch of Christians that believe it's okay to hate and wish death on innocents. What a pitiful joke.

Some of us need to mellow. I tend to not play completely nice all the time. I apologize to anyone I offended that has been patient and kind. I probably just misunderstood you. I'm not trying to be converted and I don't want to convert anyone else either. I come for the exchange of ideas, not the ignorant hellfire.

Blessed Be!

I, myself am Pagan, yet I respect the rights of others to believe in what they want to believe. I have many cool Christian friends that accept what I am but love who I am, which this is very mutual and that is alright with me.
So, why can't we all just get along?
I may not believe or agree with what you believe, but I will fight to my death to defend your right to believe it.
So please? Lets just accept each other as fellow human beings and if we can't love one another, then at least respect each other for the person(s) we are? Is this too much to ask?

It is not hard for me to defend my beliefs without insulting people. However I don't feel the need to defend my beliefs. I am proud to believe and God and to try and live His Word. No defense necessary.
