Before you watch television, drink alcohol, or do anything else that distracts you from reality, pay close attention to your motivations and intentions--asking yourself "why?"

I see a lot questions asking about "true" Christians -posed from atheistic thinkers, the agnostic fellowship and those of other faiths.
I like that. And I understand why so many of the best answers are those that support one's intial theory.
What I don't understand though is this:
If you are able to know what a "true" Christian "should" look like or what a "true" Christian is "not", doesn't that say that you know a lot about what a "true" Christian should be, who Christ was, what He taught and His example to us? If this is the case, what is it about Him and His teachings that you reject? If your answer is based on disbelief of His existence is your reasoning for this line of questioning anything other than seeking opportunity to belittle those who think/believe differently than you or to cause division?
***Please note that I am WELL aware that there are many "Christians" who use Christ as a battering ram.
***I'm trying to understand to build better tolerance and wisdom.

One of the most important things that a solider lears in his traning is to be alert. He must be constantly be watching and be on guard for any attack of the enemy. If he fails in this first objective, it could mean a major defeat or even death. As Christians we must always be on the ALERT. We cannot afford toallow the enemy to take us by suprised. Jesus has commanded you to WATCH and PRAY (Matthews 26:41

Lets say youre an atheist who wants to raise children with the same outlook into the world as yours. What happens when your child asks you why the majority of the people in the world believe in a god? Do you tell them the majority of the people in the world are delusional?

What happens if they ask you at a very early age and as a consequence they get the feeling that theyre surrounded by delusional people, that the world is a place full of crazy people, and theyre among the very few who arent? How would that actually make the child feel?

If you dont do any of these, what do you tell your child when they want to know why so many people believe in God?

Does it mean that Jesus was trying to encourage people to be lazy so that they can reap where they did not sow. Explain and give examples with scripture references.

I cannot see you, touch you, or smell you, but I see the work you do and see your words being sent to me on this page. Though there might not be anyone on the other side typing and this is all one big figment of my imagination, I still have faith that there is. Isn't it the same with God. We don't see Him, touch Him, or smell Him. But we see what He has done, and we have His word. All we have to do is believe that He is there.

I constantly hear creationist claim the earth is 6000 years old and that Carbon dating cannot be trusted. But do people actually think scientists settle on the first methods and results they come across before they proclaim something as fact?

When Jeasus arrives at Golgotha, they offer Him a drink of Vinegar " mingled with Gall" which shold deaden the excruciating pain he will experirnce during the Crucifixion ( Matthew 27:34 ) But Jesus refused it. He chooses instead to endure with full consciousness th suffering which where appointed for Him. he willingly choses to drink the " cup of sorrows" He willingly goes to the cross to die....to bear the judgment and wrath of GOD for thr sins of the world.

from joshua 10..amazing The day the earth did not rotate!

12 "Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, sun stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, moon upon Ajalon.
13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel."

A baby mammoth unearthed in the permafrost of north-west Siberia could be the best preserved specimen of its type, scientists have said.

The six-month-old female calf was discovered on the Yamal peninsula of Russia and is thought to have died 10,000 years ago.

10,000 years ago? but according to "young earth" believers, the earth isn't even that old. so, to them i ask, did the scientists make yet another mistake? how old is this mammoth then?

Recent anti-Trinitarian questions have stated that the early Church did not believe in the Trinity. If that is your position, how do you explain these early Christian writings, some about the second person and some about all three persons of the Trinity?

1. Justin Martyr referred to the deity of Christ so often that space does not permit the reproduction of his statements here. But this statement of his sums it up succinctly: "We will prove that we worship him reasonably; for we have learned that he is the Son of the true God Himself, that he holds a second place, and the Spirit of prophecy a third.” This is a clear description of the Trinity.

2. In the Huleatt Manuscript from 50 AD is found a description of Mark 14 (where a woman pours perfume on Jesus). It says “...But, when the disciples saw it, they were indignant.... God, aware of this, said to them,: “Why do you trouble this woman?’” Jesus is the speaker about whom the writer says, “God ... said to them ....”

3. The letter of Barnabas in 74 AD says, “And further, my brethren, if the Lord endured to suffer for our soul, he being the Lord of all the world, to whom God said at the foundation of the world, 'Let us make man after our image, and after our likeness,' understand how it was that he endured to suffer at the hand of men" (Letter of Barnabas 5).

4. In 140 AD, Aristides wrote, "[Christians] are they who, above every people of the Earth, have found the truth, for they acknowledge God, the creator and maker of all things, in the only-begotten Son and in the Holy Spirit" (Apology 16).

The list goes on and on, but nobody likes a lengthy question and this one’s too long already.

This minister lost everything for questioning the existance of hell. Is this just a huge misunderstanding or is it another example of how "thinking" is looked down upon in Christianity. What are your thoughts?
