A baby mammoth unearthed in the permafrost of north-west Siberia could be the best preserved specimen of its type, scientists have said.
The six-month-old female calf was discovered on the Yamal peninsula of Russia and is thought to have died 10,000 years ago.
10,000 years ago? but according to "young earth" believers, the earth isn't even that old. so, to them i ask, did the scientists make yet another mistake? how old is this mammoth then?

Hi R,
Despite your respect for primoa.
you will have to accept him until he is unborn again.
faith based religions are the biggest waste of good men and women i have ever encountered. I do not know if his wayward and easily refutable attitude modifies his moral nature for the worse, I doubt it. the religious are rarely actively evil, they're just not good enough. His potential quality is being wasted or at least heavily reduced, however you or I cannot tell him this alas faith is a strong adversary. you can't fight it head on it has to lay down and die on it's own.
If he can be reborn he can be unborn again too! I personally would leave him for now, if he wakes up he will not have forgotten where you live and will probaly want to play out, - I hope so anyway.
Buff.
p.s you were right to lose the anger.showing your frustration would've been of no use to your task.

The bible was written by men who knew nothing about science or the past. They edited and made up stories that tried to explain the world in a way so they could control other men. Remember they believed the earth was flat and in the center of the universe. They believed that heaven was in the sky and hell was underground.
The universe is around 14 billion years old. The earth is around 4.5 billion years old. The 10 thousand year time period for the mammoth is pretty accurate. If you doubt any of this, study the science. Don't just take a book of stories as indisputable fact.

Pick one:
1- Carbon dating does not work (similar to saying: 100 clocks show it's 8:42, one clock says it's 9:20, hence clocks are not reliable)
2- God specifically created the earth with the appearance of age, the old tricky fellow.
3- The mammoth is 10,000 years old. And earth is 4.55 Billion years old.

Perhaps a few were still surviving a few 10,000 years back. Then they died. Its that simple.
Science and religion can co-exist. Its only people are stupid enough to go with one side and fight the other rather than combining the facts.
And what is young earth anyway?

definite, definitely, scientists make errors. they additionally *spectacular* them. See, it is the way it works: while a scientist publishes a paper, a lot of of alternative scientists attempt do replica their artwork, attempt to instruct them incorrect, or attempt to instruct them top. a great variety of the time those different scientists have not have been given any connection of any variety to the 1st guy, so there's no style of "favoritism" occurring. If the unique theory gets further outcomes exhibiting it is spectacular, its value as a proof is going up. If it gets further outcomes exhibiting it is incorrect, it is discarded. technology is self-correcting. Over an prolonged volume of time, while vast quantities of confirming data have been compiled and no conflicting data, some innovations take on the status of "regulation" or "certainty" -- after lots confirming data, the opportunities of them being incorrect are so low that they are extensive-unfold as certainty. that's the case for evolution, the huge-bang beginning place of the universe, the scientific a while given for the universe, earth, image voltaic gadget, and so on.; it isn't the case for chilly-fusion, astrology, extraterrestrial beings development the pyramids, and so on. those have all had a lot of information that shows they are incorrect, so as that they have been discarded. What makes us so helpful is that none of this ever is desperate via one guy. no longer something is taken to be actual or certainty till it is shown repeatedly back, thousands or thousands of cases, with all varieties of confirmed helping data via thousands or thousands of distinctive scientists. Christians, on the different hand, swear something is actual without confirming data of any variety, based completely on one historical e book, that's demonstrably, provably incorrect in many stuff. there's no helping data, there's no new data that proves them top, and in maximum situations it is not even a threat to instruct their assertions spectacular. No data -- no longer a certainty. it is truly that easy. Oh, and via the way -- no scientist has ever believed the international replaced into flat. that incorrect perception replaced into discarded long till now the scientific technique replaced into progressed. definite, there have been incorrect scientific innovations, and different scientists have shown them incorrect -- yet you do no longer see any christians actively attempting to instruct christianity incorrect, do you..? Peace.

Actually, I believe the earth to be 6,000 to 12,000 years old. I have no problem with the age the scientists have assigned to this particular baby mammoth.

I'll stick with the scientists' version on this one.
If you believe in Last Thursadayism, the world was created last Thursday. Any evidence which makes the Earth look older than that was because the world was created to look old.

What? Are you sure your numbers are right and the calf wasn't 10 million years old?
If I wanted to prove a young earth, that 10,000 number would look pretty good to me.

I am changing my answer....Hey Primoa do you realize that Scientists have more than one way to date fossils? I mean I am totally sure that you knew that there are at least 7 different ways to check and recheck the ages of things without just using carbon dating...I mean do you really think science takes the first results that come along and are satisfied with them?
My answer to this question is..Science is right
