It sure is.
Anything negative about god is almost always answered with a "yeah, but god gave you a choice to accept him or burn in hell!" "You can always choose not to sin!" "you don't have to believe in him, you have free will, but if you don't......."
God says do what you wish, but make the wrong choice and you will be tortured for eternity in hell. That's not free will. It's like a man telling his girlfriend, do what you wish, but if you choose to leave me, I will track you down and blow your brains out. When a man says this we call him a psychopath. When god says the same we call him "loving" and build churches in his honor.- William C. Easttom II

Its the way of getting around the problem of evil and pain and suffering while keeping a loving all knowing and all powerful personal God. It seems like a dodge to me too.

To the young lady who said co-incidence is a way to dodge questions about atheism: Co-incidence is a statistic of probability, so yes, it's acceptable.
The common answer to any bad act is that god works in mysterious ways, or if its good, it's gods will. Personally they seem like too much of a cop out.

In the same way that repeating "coincidence" is a way to dodge answers about atheism?
Free will is the God-given right of every human being, coincidence is a weak explanation when no explanation exists (except faith and God)
Ready for my morning dose of thumbs down! Thanks so much. ;)

Man's freewill is freer with the WILL OF THE LORD GOD. it is so because in every man's heart is planted the spirit of eternity that a human will can not fathom yet for himself alone but man's will with THE WILL OF GOD, eternity is fathomable even unto the unendiing world of omega.

Certainly. The only thing a human has "free will" over is their body and their memories. The phrase has been totally misconstrued and misused.
