If so I apologise - as a catholic - on his behalf.
No one has a monopoly on religion.
As far as I am concerned all roads lead to the same destination, as far as religion goes.
His remarks, to my mind, were grossly offensive to non catholics.
Were you offended?

I am a Christian, and PLEASE don't take this question in an offensive way- I am just curious. Most people that I have talked to say it is not a belief. You can have the belief that there is no God, can't you?

Well, if you're Catholic, of course you think the Pope is right, since the Pope is always right. The Pope said: ""cannot be called 'churches' in the proper sense" because they do not have apostolic succession -- the ability to trace their bishops back to Christ's original apostles -- and therefore their priestly ordinations are not valid"

Well, I'll bet they didn't teach you catholics much about Pope Stephen VII, and Pope Formosus. Pope Stephen had Pope Formosus's body dug up and put on trial! Read about it here:

Maybe the Pope should worry more about keeping the priests off the little boys than worrying about protestants.

ok..so....to my understanding JW's claim that Jehovah is the "One True God." Thus, if there is only one true God, then all other God's must be false.

The NWT renders John 1:1, "In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god."

Obviously Jesus is being referred to as the Word, but it refers to Him as a god... So is he a true or false god?

Some might say that he is god-like, but the verse doesn't say that, it says he was "a god."

so ya...let me know what you think! :)

Aside from atheists who don't believe in God, Christ or Jiminy Cricket - Here's an analogy for you: You have a brother and despite being raised in the same home, with the same parents, and the same values, ends up committing horrific crimes, doing drugs, shooting people and stealing from the poor. How do you explain this happening, and not be able to fathom the above questions. Because it happens, and everyone knows someone like this in their lives.

i do try and question what is put in front of me.
i believe people have a spiritual side to them, but i also believe that god is this spiritual nature gone to the extreme.

don't you think that christianity are just old fashioned ideas that need to be revised, and brought into the 21st century.

it just seems taht some people are still holding on to an ancient myth, when really there are more important things in the world to deal with, like global warming? bigotry, conflict, etc.

Many people would look onto Jesus’ death on the cross as a proof of God's love towards humanity, for he let his own son down in this to redeem humanity. Is this fair? I really cannot see the casual link between the death of an innocent man and the atonement of the human being's sins. On the other hand, what kind of God is this that can conform himself with the acceptance of this sort of behaviour in order to atone for third parties’ sins. Would you imagine what the world would be like if we applied this sort of solution in courts and justice in general. If you come to think of it you will probably realize this God would suffer from the very same illnesses that pull the nerves and muscles of every human being and, so far, this is no God at all. I’ve always tried to put this issue across many Christians but they simply would not catch onto it. They simply say Jesus had to die on the cross because we humans could not afford to pay for our sins with our own blood. What kind of cowardice is

Muhammad's Holocaust of Jews from their Arabian Homeland:

"And he bequeathed to you their lands, their homes and their possessions, together with land you have never trodden. Allah has power over everything" http://www.americanthinker.com/2005/06/muhammad_and_the_jews.html

So Allah, having once called the Jews his "chosen people" then decides, under Islamic scripture, to issue a ethnic cleansing fatwa!

Take all their "Lands".
Take all their "homes".
Take all their "possessions".

I love the added "together with land youve never trodden". Guess that includes Mexico and California...and everything!

Quit living in denial. Every time you suck on one of those nasty things you are shortening your life with every breath not to mention destroying any hope for quality of life. You think your friends and loved ones respect you. They pity you. They find your nasty habit disgusting. Still they make excuses for you and coddle you and you loathe them for it. Quit making all those lame excuses to yourself. Quit telling yourself that big lie that you enjoy tobacco. There is not a person who uses tobacco who don't wish they were free of it. You can quit, this is the time. Have the guts to try. And when you fail and you will fail, try again and again until it takes. Kick that disgusting, filthy habit.

The worldwide flood that destroyed all life on earth except for Noah, his family, and the animals in the ark occurred in 4990 B.C. In 2 Peter 3 God refers back to this flood and then transitions to the destruction of the universe by fire. In verse 8 God says, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." This is interesting because God told Noah to get into the ark 7 days before He brought the worldwide flood (Genesis 7:4).

Multiplying 7 X 1000 = 7000 years (1 day=1000 years). Then 7000 years + 4990 BC = 2011 AD (year "0" must count for 1 year). Is this the year Christ will return as the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" to rapture the saints, destroy the universe bringing judgment on the ungodly, and create a new Heaven and Earth?

Before you answer, remember God told Abraham and Lot before He destroyed Sodom + Gomorrah.

**PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT STATING A DAY NOR HOUR; JUST The YEAR.

I've seen so many people who think that Jesus' real/original/authentic teaching has been corrupted. And I understand that. Who would you say is to blame? Paul? Constantine? The Catholic Church? Martin Luther? Calvin? Right Wing Fundamentalists? Liberal Theologians? I've seen fingers pointed at all of these and more for "hijacking" the gospel of Christ. What's your opinion and why?

Does he really think he has the right to speak for all of Christianity? I'm a Christian and he definitely doesn't speak for me!
I heard that he recently stated that all non-catholic Christian churches are false, flawed, and are not true churches.

Who does he think he is, and why should anyone listen to him?
I think he is the one who is not a true Christian!

I see it used as justification to promote prejudice and bigotry on these boards everyday. Visit the GLBT section and see for yourself.

Is it acceptable to believe Hitler went to heaven and Gandhi when to hell? (Thanks Daughter of Isis for this great point!)

Take out the judgment and the hate and what do you have left? Noah was about judgment, as was Job. Even Jesus is supposedly about judgment and salvation.

As many of you know, I am not an atheist. I think there is a God but He is not that biblical monster.

In fact it says to respect them and recognizes the Bible and Torah as sacred texts also. Bad publicity by the early Christian church? For being the largest religion in the world it seem that few people actually understand it.
