Local church is hiring an Administrative Assistant. I'm just curious if anyone knows if churches pay well and if they provide benefits like insurance and paid holidays/vacations. I've got the skills but the pay has to be right.

where i live in the mountains yeaterday at around 2:30pm, a huge wildfire started in the forest! it spread very quickly. the fire went into neighborhoods and was out of control. it has burned nearly 100 acres or so. more than 250 houses, properties and possessions have been destroyed. firefighters have been making their best efforts to stop it, but the fire is still out of control!! the dry vegetation and wind further ignite the fire. there is thick, hazardous smoke everywhere and even the ashes are falling from the sky.many victims are suffering as they see their houses being burned to ashes in front of their faces. the smoke causes respiratory problems. i fear my house may be next to go down.the fire may cause some deaths. it is believed that the fire was caused by humans and didnt start naurally. im out of hope and im devastated. the fire is still out of control and it is destroying more homes. will you pray for us? i believe that with your faith you may help. please!!

I ask this mostly of Thso who are Jews by belief. It is not meant to incite or cause any anger, merely though and reflection. History says Christianity was,at one time a sect of Judaism. But I also understand that many Jews over the centuries see and have seen Christianity as a heresy of Judaism. My question is this Is there a way that Christians might at some point be,again considered as a sect of Judaism? Please try to focus not on theyears of repression ( do the sons pay for the sins of the father?) Can you give me theological reasoning? And ifI have a questionit will be to clarify things. My intent is not proselytation. It is intellectual curiosity and a feeling of loss that we have been sepersted for these centuries.

Theists invent stuff. You know, gods and stuff. That's all fine.

Then they start to claim their gods to be the Truth, and try to squeeze their particular gods into our laws.

I never started a group called "atheists", theists started groups. Groups filled with nonsense. That forces atheists to call themselves atheists. If there were no theists, I wouldn't be forced to call myself an atheist. If others didn't invent nonsense, I wouldn't be forced to deny it.

Isn't it pretty presumptious to first invent nonsense and then whine if others feel the need to refute that nonsense, and want to keep that same nonsense out of our laws?

I mean why do people think they are chosen ones when they have done nothing to contribute

like e.g. Islam

Prophet Muhammed said "You want to love Allah, love thy creation first" and

He didnt say Muslims but Creation

"Charity is a duty unto every Muslim. He who hath not the means thereto, let him do a good act or abstain from an evil one. That is his charity"

Then Christanity

Jesus Christ said James 2: 14My friends, what good is it to say you have faith, when you don't do anything to show that you really do have faith? Can that kind of faith save you? If you know someone who doesn't have any clothes or food, You shouldn't just say, "I hope all goes well for you. I hope you will be warm and have plenty to eat." What good is it to say this, unless you do something to help? Faith that doesn't lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead.

then what exactly are commonalities with regard to moral obligation to society? I don't advocate religions necessarily, but they do offer members at least a unified, cohesive moral code (even if they are, as I am sure many of you will claim, nothing but attempts to impose control over the weak) which helps because everyone is on the same page and KNOWS that everyone is on the same page. If there isn't a booklet on How to Be a Good Atheist, can there really be anything immoral? Osama bin Laden (extreme example, for sure) claimed it was a moral responsibility to strike back at the west for trying to impose our culture on the Arab world. Did anyone of the people that died Sept 11 go to Afghanistan and open a Christian church or strip club? Probaly not. Does that mean western culture isn't at least seeping into the Arab world? Again, probably not. So, who's right?

I always wondered why there were like 20 religious dieties before christ in other religions that had the same basis as christianity.
Such as Dionysus
He was born of a virgin on Dec. 25th
He performed miracles such as turning water into wine.
He was called the "king of kings" and "alpha and omega"
He was also crucified.
The cross with the circle around the top center is a known pagan symbol taken from the zodiac astrological calender.
These similiar things also happened with the egyptian sun god Horus, the god mithra, attis and krishna, and many more.
If you read about these people you will see.
Is christianity a total farce based on previous relgions?

watch www.zeitgeistmovie.com
it talks a little bit about this stuff in the beginning

What Is the reason Atheists congregate to this site? Most of you know YOU will never change a person who loves the lord to your belief of nothingness.

I know many Christians are leaving to other sites where they can get away from Atheists by private messages I receive,so is it your intention to make this a total Atheist Site?

And when all the people who believe in GOD exit this site will you still be here?

However, on learning about the buddhist attitude towards women regarding the traditional teaching which states women can't reach the same point as men. What do you think if this?
I am reluctant to go any further with pursuing the buddhist lifestyle on principle. I am more thn willing to comply with Buddha's teachings, including abstaining from alcohol, meat, drugs etc(which i mainly already do)But this part really bothers me. I am not a feminist but i truly believe in equality, be it sex, race, background etc
I would like some more views on this. Maybe I need to pursue further and then decide.
Any comments would be appreciated!
Thanks

Do Muslims even read the actual words of the prophets of God or only their Qu'ran?

God is the Light. Here is verse 50 from the Gospel of Thomas.

50. Jesus said, "If they say to you, 'Where have you come from?' say to them, 'We have come from the light, from the place where the light came into being by itself, established [itself], and appeared in their image.'
If they say to you, 'Is it you?' say, 'We are its children, and we are the chosen of the living Father.'
If they ask you, 'What is the evidence of your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is motion and rest.'"

If you are an educated Christian, I would like to talk with you today about an important and interesting question. Have you ever thought about using your education to think about your faith? Your life and your career demand that you behave and act rationally. Let's apply your critical thinking skills as we discuss 10 simple questions about your religion.

Here is an example of the kind of thing I am talking about: As a Christian, you believe in the power of prayer. According to a recent poll (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=42061), 3 out of 4 doctors believe that God is performing medical miracles on earth right now. Most Christians believe that God is curing cancers, healing diseases, reversing the effects of poisons and so on.

So here is question #1: Why won't God heal amputees?

It's a simple question, isn't it? We all know that amputated legs do not spontaneously regenerate in response to prayer. Amputees get no miracles from God.

"God=love", "faith is works", "there is only one" "we are the children" and so forth.

Either that or quote thoughtlessly and endlessly out of "the book" (aka "the bible" - simple title for a simple text).

Do you people really think you are being PROFOUND with such simple/empty answers? Your simple answers come off as simple-minded, as you do not provoke any real thought about anything.

Or is it this: "the more points I earn in R&S, the more spiritual I am" Do you really think Y!A reports their point tallies to your god?
