If you are an educated Christian, I would like to talk with you today about an important and interesting question. Have you ever thought about using your education to think about your faith? Your life and your career demand that you behave and act rationally. Let's apply your critical thinking skills as we discuss 10 simple questions about your religion.
Here is an example of the kind of thing I am talking about: As a Christian, you believe in the power of prayer. According to a recent poll (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=42061), 3 out of 4 doctors believe that God is performing medical miracles on earth right now. Most Christians believe that God is curing cancers, healing diseases, reversing the effects of poisons and so on.
So here is question #1: Why won't God heal amputees?
It's a simple question, isn't it? We all know that amputated legs do not spontaneously regenerate in response to prayer. Amputees get no miracles from God.

If you are an intelligent person, you have to admit that it's an interesting question On the one hand, you believe that God answers prayers and performs miracles. On the other hand, you know that God completely ignores amputees when they pray for miracles.
How do you deal with this discrepancy? As an intelligent person, you have to deal with it, because it makes no sense. In order to handle it, notice that you have to create some kind of rationalization. You have to invent an excuse on God's behalf to explain this strange fact of life. You might say, "well, God must have some kind of special plan for amputees." So you invent your excuse, whatever it is, and then you stop thinking about it because it is uncomfortable.
Here is another example. As a Christian, you believe that God cares about you and answers your prayers.
So the second question is: Why are there so many starving people in our world?

Third question: Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible? Look up these verses:
- Exodus 35:2 – God demands that we kill everyone who works on the Sabbath day.
- Deuteronomy 21:18-21 – God demands that we kill disobedient teenagers.
- Leviticus 20:13 – God demands the death of homosexuals.
- Deuteronomy 22:13-21 – God demands that we kill girls who are not virgins when they marry.
And so on… There are lots of verses like these.
It doesn't make any sense, does it? Why would a loving God want us to murder our fellow human beings over such trivial matters? Just because you work on the wrong day of the week, you must die? That makes no sense, does it? In fact, if you think about it, you realize that it is insane. So you create some kind of rationalization to explain these verses.

Question #4: Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense? You know how science works. You happily use the products of science every day: your car, your cell phone, your microwave oven, your TV, your computer. These are all products of the scientific process. You know that science is incredibly important to our economy and to our lives.
But there is a problem. As an educated person you know that the Bible contains all sorts of information that is total nonsense from a scientific perspective.
- God did not create the world in 6 days 6,000 years ago like the Bible says.
- There was never a worldwide flood that covered Mt. Everest like the Bible says.
- Jonah did not live inside a fish's stomach for three days like the Bible says.
- God did not create Adam from a handful of dust like the Bible says.

These stories are all nonsense. Why would an all-knowing God write nonsense? It makes no sense, does it? So you create some type of very strange excuse to try to explain why the Bible contains total nonsense.
Question #5: Why is God such a huge proponent of slavery in the Bible? Look up these Bible verses:
- Exodus 21:20-21 – God says that it is OK to own slaves, and it is also OK to beat them.
- Colossians 3:22-24 – Slaves need to obey their masters.
- Ephesians 6:5 – Slaves need to obey their masters just as they would obey Christ.
- 1 Peter 2:18 – Slaves need to obey their masters, even if their masters are harsh .
And so on…
And why do all intelligent people abhor slavery and make it completely illegal? You have to come up with some kind of weird rationalization to explain it.
Question #6: Why do bad things happen to good people? That makes no sense. You have created an exotic excuse on God's behalf to rationalize it.

Question #7: Why didn't any of Jesus' miracles in the Bible leave behind any evidence? It's very strange, isn't it? You have created an excuse to rationalize it.
Question #8: How do we explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you? Jesus is all-powerful and timeless, but if you pray for Jesus to appear, nothing happens. You have to create a weird rationalization to deal with this discrepancy.
Question #9 – Why would Jesus want you to eat his body and drink his blood? It sounds totally grotesque, doesn't it? Why would al all-powerful God want you to do something that, in any other context, sounds like a disgusting, cannibalistic, satanic ritual?

And finally, Question #10 – Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians? Christians get married in front of God and their Christian friends, all of whom are praying to God for the marriage to succeed. And then they say, "What God has put together, let no man put asunder." God is all-powerful, so if God has put two people together that should seal the deal, right? Yet Christians get divorced at the same rate as everyone else. To explain this, you have to create some convoluted rationalization.
So, we have looked at 10 fascinating questions. In order to believe in God, you have had to create all sorts of strange rationalizations and excuses. If you are an intelligent, college-educated person, all of these excuses and rationalizations probably make you uncomfortable. If you think about it honestly, using the critical thinking skills that you learned in college, you have to admit that your answers to these questions make no sense at all.

Now, let me show you something remarkable.
What if you instead assume that God is imaginary?
A funny thing happens: the answers to every one of these questions make complete sense. Just look at all ten questions as an intelligent person:
1) Why won't God heal amputees? Because God is imaginary, and he doesn't answer any prayers. Every "answered prayer" is actually a coincidence. All scientific evidence supports this conclusion.
2) Why are there so many starving people in our world? Because God is imaginary, and he is therefore unable to answer their prayers.
3) Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible? Because God is imaginary, and the Bible was written by ridiculous, ruthless men rather than any sort of loving being.
4) Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense? Ditto. Primitive men wrote the bible, not an all-knowing being.
5) Why is God such a huge proponent of slavery? Ditto.

6) Why do bad things happen to good people? Because God is imaginary and bad things happen at the same statistical rates to everyone.
7) Why didn't any of Jesus' miracles in the Bible leave behind any evidence? Because God is imaginary, and Jesus' miracles are myths.
8) How do we explain the fact that Jesus has never appeared to you? Because God is imaginary.
9) Why would Jesus want you to eat his body and drink his blood? Because God is imaginary, and this bizarre ritual came from a pagan religion.
10) Why do Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians? Because God is imaginary.
Do you see what has happened here? When we assume that God exists, the answers to these ten questions make absolutely no sense. But if we assume that God is imaginary, our world makes complete sense.
It's interesting, isn't it? Actually, it's more than interesting – it is incredibly important.
Our world only makes sense when we understand that God is imaginary.

This is how intelligent, rational people know that God is imaginary.
When you use your brain, and when you think logically about your religious faith, you can reach only one possible conclusion: the "god" that you have heard about since you were an infant is completely imaginary. You have to willfully discard rationality, and accept hundreds of bizarre rationalizations to believe in your "god."

******* Everyone keeps saying that was in the 'olden days' or whatever. Shouldn't the bible written by god live and persist through the ages? Or are people corrupting its pages... perhaps it's simply an idea created by man.... I think Walter Crewes put it best (excellent actor) in the movie The Big Bounce, "God is just an imaginary friend for grown ups." He has a point.

Whichever you prefer to believe.
***** cantstop929 - When i said this, "Shouldn't the bible written by god live and persist through the ages? Or are people corrupting its pages... perhaps it's simply an idea created by man" was this.... The bible in its most pure form was written by whom? People who were spoken to by god perhaps? Everyone has their own version so i have to generalize this. As we go on through life we decide a portion of the bible was 'wrong' or doesnt apply nowadays. So we change it. How changed is the bible? WIth so many corrupt people. (crusades / iraq ect ect) how corrupt is the bible? this is my point, i'm merely brainstorming about possibilities.

in response to drizzt (another fantasy character i might add):
Your first paragraph you are supporting these killings in the 'olden days". Or at least supporting the decisions of the bible scribes who commisioned it to be so. Which essentially is the same. So it's ok for tyrants, and world leaders to weild the power of gods influence and update the pages of the bible so that his command becomes that of god, and must be done? This ok? I think not. Stop trying to justify it, and really think about it.
4) Again, you're justifying all this nonsense with more nonsense. Is he eric cartman just saying, 'whateva, i'm all-powerful. I'll do what i want!'? I don't think he is much like eric cartman, if he exists.
5) You are my slave, i wish to beat you. Slavery is wrong, anyone who supports it is wrong. You attempting to rationalize this says you support slavery. Don't you think it'd be better for god to say don't have slaves it's bad. Also, don't be violent towards one another?

6) I did.
7) I have healed people too. I'm god. There's my evidence. Have faith in me, and smile. Are you really so easily convinced? I've never seen anyone i know or even heard of who have been healed but something incurable or even deadly by the grace of god. I doubt any truly rational people have.
8) Jesus appeared, not god. Jesus. He was mortal... you are worthy. Please read before posting?
9) I know what the point in the ritual was, but it has a brutal and obscure process. Do you believe in gods eyes if someone jumped in front of a bullet for me and started eating his flesh and drinking his blood i'd be looked at as holy? Or maybe a satanist. I'd guess that latter.
10) So you agree then, god doesn't help your marriages either. Thanks for agreeing.

I'll address your points as well, these are all of your points in order from top to bottom:
Point #1: i was refering to people walking around right now. Not people in heaven. The point was god has no ability to heal his followers on earth. It's either a trick, or the body healing itself. I agree imagining a positive outcome in any way can help the healing process. It's the power of the mind and body, not intervention from god.
Point #2: you do have a positive outlook on the progression of human kind. However, the point was that god doesn't fee the starving. I guess he could let them die so they can be reborn in the afterlife well fed right? If that works for you then great, but i need more than that. There's a lot of people with infinite faith in god, who die of starvation. This is what you tip toed around saying by saying all starving people are simply non believers or didn't have the appropriate level of faith to suffice.

Point #3: So i guess if i want to kill someone i can go to israel and it'll be ok. The facts are there, it was done and was supported by god in the destruction of others lives in his honor. Thou shalt not kill (Footnote: unless i say so). Irrational.
Point #4, #5, #6... and so on.
Again, if the bible is the book as to which you must adhere to, then why does man constantly update it to get things done that they want to do. Whether its to start the crusades, or to kill homosexuals is of no consequence. The answer is because people like you who will do anything written in the book of lies. It's really not a matter of distinguishing when they took place and that 'times are a changin' and we need to rewrite our own bible without gods help to better serve us, and not him. If god comanded us to kill homosexuals, get to work. Where did he specify in israel only? Why did he? i don't think you can answer that.

I'm rationalizing my way out of it? So the ability to think that god gave me is my enemy? I must be a thoughtless lemming following every word that man continues to addapt during the times? That just doesn't make any sense at all.
Next point regarding question #4: First off calling someone who is simply asking questions bias and ignorant isn't much of a holy response. Anger usually comes when you're wrong, and you know it. I understand. On to the response... my logical approach to the bible scares you, as a logical and intelligent man i cannot believe someone lived in the belly of a fish for 3 days just because the bible said so. My belief is that you may be misinformed, perhaps have too much faith. Blinding faith.
Next point: News flash, you are a very angry person. Perhaps you should stop posting? You're not a nice person, forget about a good follower of any faith. I'm actually going to stop this. You obviously have no tact in this matter, and cannot add anything to the convo.

1. I would hope they were a Muslim 2. Well I was brought up to be a Christian but now I am a Muslim so that goes against the "doing it because my parents taught me that way" assumption. 3. Yes it is very likely I would be a Muslim. Although there are many Christians in Cairo too. Oh and 840 million? Try double that. 4. For one, if you are innocent or a child and you die in a natural disaster you will go to Heaven and so once you know you're going to enjoy eternity in Heaven you'll no much care about your death. That and the evil ones will be getting punished. Also it is a sign of the end of times. That and a result or punishment for how we treat the earth. 5. Believing or not believing is completly your own will. God does will not try you withouth giving you a chance to believe. 6. I don't know the why, but there is a Hadith that the Jews will split into 71 denominations, the Christians into 72, and the Muslims into 73. 7. Well I believe the jealous word is a mistranslation. The message of the verse is to have no other gods beside God. That God will not take it lightly if you do. 8. This is very true, Zakat or Charity is the third pillar of Islam and so giving to the poor is mandatory of Muslims. 9. The Chosen People thing is very selfish and its as bad to think that all Jews are scum (as Hitler did) as it is to say Jews are the chosen people by God and no others will enter Heaven. 10. Why, because the faith and the followers are VERY different

First off, God can do whatever He wants so don't question Him. Also, how do you expect people to answer?? you keep saying that we've explained things away, so if we even try to explain things rationally, you'll just ignore it. but I can try
1) who knows? He does have a plan for them and a reason for their unfortunate circumstances. He knows what He's doing even if you don't. There have been so many cases where something horrible happens but it leads to something good. Look at joni erickson tada who was paralized for the neck down, but used her mouth to become a wonderful painter. Not everyone who experiences tragedy will do something like that, but there's always a reason.
2) Why are people starving. Look at my answer for # 1. It's also an opportunity for those of us who aren't starving to use what God has blessed us with and make a difference by blessing others.
3) What innocent people did God demand dead? Everyone He demanded dead had sin. Death is the proper punishment for sin.
4)You failed to offer any evidence, and how do you have proof of when the world was created. the devices that supposedly prove that the world was created millions of years ago have actually been proved wrong. They said that a fifty year old rock (which they knew the age of already) was 3 million years old. And the flood did happen, they've found fish fossils up in mount everest, proving water was once that high. And Jonah and Noah were miracles, which you admitted happen when you were talking about amputees.
5) And God knew that slavery was a reality, but we are always supposed to respect those in authority over us, even slaves whether it's right or wrong. And when they disobeyed they were punished (withing reason, just standard punishment for anyone in that time, not just slaves) for not respecting those in authority over them.
6) you said it yourself "bad things happen at the same statistical rates to everyone" God's not picking on good people, bad thing just happen because God knows what's best
7) The Bible recorded Jesus' miracles. That's the evidence
8) Jesus' is in heaven, He may not appear to us physically, but we can talk to Him and you can feel His presence
9) The body and blood thing was figurative, not literal
10) And there are some reasons for Christians to get divorced in Matthew. But some Christians are selfish and ignore what God says and get divorced for the wrong reasons. It's not right but it's reality.

#1--I certainly believe that God could heal an amputee. Do any of the amputees that are praying out there truly believe that God can cure them, or do they, like you, see it as impossible and are merely praying out of some faint hope? Faith precedes the miracle.
#2--You do not understand the amount of free will that God has given to man. People who are starving live in a place where food does not grow well or the system is corrupt or they can't find work. These are all problems that are caused or can be resolved by humans. God won't tell people where to live or tear down corrupt governments, etc. This life is a test and we must do our best to help out each other. God will bless us if we turn to him and make the best of our situation.
#3--The people you mention all broke the direct commandments of God--they were not innocent. While these rules may seem trivial to you, they were very important to the survival and well-being of the wandering nation of Israel, to whom these rules were given. Some of these rules are not applicable today and God does not hold us responsible for them.
#4--the Bible was written many centuries ago by people that did not have the same scientific background that we do today. It was written from that perspective. Some things don't need to be taken 100% literally. Our versions of the Bible say the creation took 6 Days--well, not literally--it was probably a series of six creative periods--each one could have taken millions of years. I don't think that's outside of the principle the Bible is teaching. Noah's flood could have been more limited, but appeared to him to be worldwide. That would not make him necessarily wrong--just a limited perspective. Adam was probably not created from dust, literally, but from the same elements that the earth was created from. While not taking the words 100% literally for what they say, I think we can still believe in the principles behind what is being said--God created the world, mankind, etc., and is involved in our lives.
#5--You can't say that God is a "proponent" of slavery. Slavery has been a part of human culture for thousands of years. It was a part of the economic pattern of society. If you look at it, God gave very humane rules for the treatment of slaves, including provisions for them to gain their freedom.
#6--Bad things happen to good people because that is life. If I get hit by a drunk driver does that mean that I was a bad person and that's why I got hit? No. The person was out of control and hit me. God doesn't intercede in all cases like this. There are things that can be learned from pain and sorrow. I'm not suggesting that God inflicts those things on us, but I don't think he is going to step in and save every good person from every bad thing that happens.

If you are an intelligent person, you have to admit that it's an interesting question On the one hand, you believe that God answers prayers and performs miracles. On the other hand, you know that God completely ignores amputees when they pray for miracles.
--------------------
So, because God does not heal an amputee now of a severed limb, that means God will not give this person in the resurrection back to a body that limb? Oh, sorry... a rationalization. But then, your whole rant is a rationalization.
---------------------
Here is another example. As a Christian, you believe that God cares about you and answers your prayers.
So the second question is: Why are there so many starving people in our world?
------------------------
Why are there so many people in the world who continue to reject God, thereby resulting in God not helping them? And today, more people are alive and well fed than any other time in history. Ever ask yourself why this is, and what people accumplished it?
-----------------------
Third question: Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible? Look up these verses:
- Exodus 35:2 – God demands that we kill everyone who works on the Sabbath day.
-------------------------
Talk about willful ignorance...
God demanded OF ISRAEL that they put to death one who worked on the sabbath for just picking up firewood. Why? Because they were commanded not to. Those that did were hardly "innocent" when God's instructions to them were quite clear.
-------------------------------
- Deuteronomy 21:18-21 – God demands that we kill disobedient teenagers.
-----------------------------
Wrong! God demanded it of ancient Israel, and not "we".
----------------------------
- Leviticus 20:13 – God demands the death of homosexuals.
------------------------------
ditto
-----------------------------
- Deuteronomy 22:13-21 – God demands that we kill girls who are not virgins when they marry.
------------------------------
ditto
-------------------------------
And so on… There are lots of verses like these.
-----------------------------
Yes indeed. Lots of verses like these where idiots like yourself are unable to distinguish the simplest things like who was being spoken to in context.
-------------------------------
It doesn't make any sense, does it? Why would a loving God want us to murder our fellow human beings over such trivial matters? Just because you work on the wrong day of the week, you must die? That makes no sense, does it? In fact, if you think about it, you realize that it is insane. So you create some kind of rationalization to explain these verses.
---------------------------------
What is demonstrated is the total inability of some to discern what was really happening. The Israelites couldn't even keep the most simplest demands/commands God gave them, even though they agreed they would do them. One of the lessons to be learned is that if God gave you the most simplest of commands, you would not do so either. For example:
Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
A simple command for all mankind. But you will not do so. Why? Because you cannot and will not. You never will unless and until you quit rationalizing your way out of it. Maybe if you used your critical thinking skills......
---------------------------------
Question #4: Why does the Bible contain so much anti-scientific nonsense? You know how science works. You happily use the products of science every day: your car, your cell phone, your microwave oven, your TV, your computer. These are all products of the scientific process. You know that science is incredibly important to our economy and to our lives.
--------------------------------
1. The Bible is not a scientific text book. If it appears to be anti-scientific, it is because of your ignorant bias and misunderstanding of the Bible. Have you not read:
Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
No people back then believed the earth hung upon nothing.
------------------------------
But there is a problem. As an educated person you know that the Bible contains all sorts of information that is total nonsense from a scientific perspective.
- God did not create the world in 6 days 6,000 years ago like the Bible says.
--------------------------------
News flash. The Bible does not say the world was created 6000 years ago. And the 6 days? This could be a re-creation of the earth. Have you not read:
Psalms 104:30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
______________________
- There was never a worldwide flood that covered Mt. Everest like the Bible says.
-------------------------------
You need to try reading carefully. One could also point out that you were not there.
------------------------------
- Jonah did not live inside a fish's stomach for three days like the Bible says.
--------------------------
Again, you were not there.
There was a sailor who was swallowed by a sperm whale back around 1906 who was found alive after the whale was skinned, etc.
But then, if there is a God, would it be such a hard thing for God to preserve him alive for three days as written?
---------------------------------
- God did not create Adam from a handful of dust like the Bible says.
-----------------------------------
And you were there....
And what is mankind made from? Dust. And what does man return to? Dust.
---------------------------------

The reason that Amputees aren't Healed and Alot of other miracles SEEM TO Happen is Because The Healing of an Amputee CANNOT BE FAKED.
All the other SUPPOSED Healings such as the deaf person that can suddenly hear; blind person that can suddenly see; Person in Chronic Pain no Longer has pain; etc; etc; can all be FAKED
A TOTAL Amputee CANNOT SUDDENLY SHOW an ENTIRE LEG that wasn't there before

You will not find the truth until you seek God. I can only give you what I know but only God can reveal his truth and he does that to those who love and seek the truth. God has provided for amputees and God does not perform miracles willy nilly to prove himself to you. All miracles have spiritual meanings God does not perform miracles simply for your temporary flesh. If you do not believe in one who was raised from the dead why would you believe in the resurrection of one body part? If you believe Chrsitians believe that God's performs miracle saves for all those who believe why would we have death? Wouldnt all Christians skip death all together? No we all sin and we all die and many Chrsitians die of cancer. God does perforem miracles and does demonstrate his power byt he gave us a sign in the aotnment and resurrection of /chrsit and until you accept this you will nto know the truth.
We live in a sinful world and the eventuality of sin is death. You can not have a perfect sinful world. Sin has consequinces. God has made a place where there is no sin or death. Thsoe who accept the atonement will be changed and can enter this paradise but the fact is there will be no sin therefore no corruption and death.

That was back in the olden days when killing someone for those things was commonplace. Even Hammurabi said to kill disobedient teenagers. God works in mysterious ways, and all things are the way they are for a reason. we all have challenges to push us along through life. Amputees just have a little more of a challenge. And think about it, if you are amputated, that means that someone, doctor, cut it off for you, so why should God make it come back? it was your choice, now granted, it was something that had to happen, but it was still something you have to deal with.
EDIT: The "bible scribes" recorded the word of God. They didn't write their own opinions. And you think about this, do you really think that people would listen to those leaders, tyrants, who changed the Bible so that it said things like that? there would be mass mayhem from Christians around the world.
4) God can do whatever he wants. we consider it nonsense, not him. God is all powerful, he doesn't have to follow the rules of science, or what we consider nonsense or not.
EDIT: how is it nonsense? are you trying to tell God what he can and can't do? God DOES exist, and last time I checked, we (human beings) made the rules of what is "nonsense" or "fairness." God doesn't have to follow our rules. We just have to follow his, and it isn't that hard.
5) back then it was ok to own slaves, so God was setting down guidelines for those who owned them. He said it was ok to beat misbehaving slaves, not just for the heck of it.
EDIT: I DO NOT SUPPORT SLAVERY. We see slavery as wrong. And it is, but back then people owned slaves, and that was their choice. For him to tell them that they couldn't own slaves would have changed their whole way of lifestyle, because they used slaves a lot. Obviously he did not feel the need to have them stop at the time. I do not know why. I will not question him. but just because I can not read God's mind and give you the answer to this question does not mean he isn't there. I know for a fact that he is there, and just because there is one little issue that doesn't add up won't change my faith.
6) look at Job.
EDIT: then what is your question? bad things happen to good people all the time. it is a test. what happened to Job? he lost everything, but still was faithful. in the end, he got more than he had before. If he wasn't faithful then he wouldn't have been blessed with all that stuff a second time.
7) What do you mean evidence? he healed the people, what more evidence do you need?
EDIT: I have heard of the power of healing in my life. i have heard people talk about healing others through the power of the priesthood. I was almost dead once, and I was revived through the power of the priesthood. think of this, if a tree falls in the forest, and no on hears it, does it still make a noise? yes, just nobody heard it. You can't tell me healing does not happen today, just because you haven't seen it with your own 2 eyes. Faith is a hope for things which are not which are true.
8) why should God appear to me? I am not worthy for him to appear to me. God cannot be seen by those who are unworthy to see him. only those with enough faith can see through the veil and be able to see him.
EDIT: Jesus was born onto Earth as a mortal person. not in his glorified state. He could not appear to me now, because I am unworthy. if he did, i would be blinded or worse by his glory. That is why he will not show himself unto the unworthy, for they could not stand it.
9)Jesus wants us to partake of emblems of his flesh and blood so that we can remember the sacrifice he made for us, and thank him accordingly.
EDIT: yes, a Satanist. when I partake of the Sacrament, no where in my mind is the thought "ew, I am eating flesh and drinking blood" I am only thinking of the fact that he loved me enough to die for me, and through him I can repent and live with my Father and Him again.
10) everyone is human. Being Christian does not automatically make you perfect and grant immunity to a marriage. People make mistakes in choosing a spouse. It happens to everyone.
EDIT: no where is it promised that "if you marry as Christians, your marriage will not fail and you will never get divorced..." that is not anywhere, so i will agree with you on the fact that just being a Christian makes you impervious to divorce. But, you cant use that to say that God does not exist. God will help you with your marriage, but only if you ask and are willing to let him.
Please tell me how my "rationalizations" are "bizzare" they aren't even rationalizations, they are facts.

Answer these questions, then:
The LORD Speaks
1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm. He said: 2 "Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? 3 Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
4 "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?
Tell me, if you understand. 5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it? 6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone- 7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels [a] shouted for joy?
12 "Have you ever given orders to the morning,
or shown the dawn its place, 13 that it might take the earth by the edges
and shake the wicked out of it? 14 The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;
its features stand out like those of a garment.
16 "Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep? 17 Have the gates of death been shown to you? Have you seen the gates of the shadow of death [b] ? 18 Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.
21 Surely you know, for you were already born!
You have lived so many years! 24 What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed, or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
25 Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, 26 to water a land where no man lives, a desert with no one in it, 27 to satisfy a desolate wasteland and make it sprout with grass?
32 Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons [d]
or lead out the Bear [e] with its cubs? 33 Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God's [f] dominion over the earth? 34 "Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with a flood of water? 35 Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, 'Here we are'? 36 Who endowed the heart [g] with wisdom or gave understanding to the mind [h] ? 37 Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens 38 when the dust becomes hard
and the clods of earth stick together? 39 "Do you hunt the prey for the lioness
and satisfy the hunger of the lions 40 when they crouch in their dens
or lie in wait in a thicket?
Maybe your response will be as Job’s:
1 Then Job replied to the LORD :
2 "I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. 3 You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?' Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know. 4 "You said, 'Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.'
5 My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. 6 Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes."

well, you see, people are stupid. they want to hide behind something that they believe will save them becasue they're afraid of what willhappen to them or their family.
we pray for healing from cancer patients, right? the only reason we do that is so that when they die from cancer, we can believe that we did everything in our power to save them, so there's no blame upon us.
Personally I'm a science person, i believe that if you can't physicaly prove that there is such a thing as God, then he can't possibly exist.
Lil
ps. good question, by the way

I agree with most of what you say. But dont close yourself to deny the existence of a higher power. Dont let your rebellious mind close itself becouse of the misguided believes of so many. There is more to life than meets the eye. It is up to you to find out what it is!
