It's a preservation for the woman itself, so she wont marry someone who drink wine, have several lovers, Encourage abortion and eat pork while she's his wife.

It is not racist or double standard, It is a matter of profit and loss. If a Muslim man marries a Christian women or a Jewish women, she asks about Moses or Jesus he will tell her they are all our prophets come see these verses, on the other hand if a Muslim women marries a christian or a Jew he will deny her prophet and the children will follow the fathers and Islam will lose the women and the children. So it is a matter of profit and loss, nothing to do with racism in fact it is the only religion that allows a man to marry outside his religion.

Muslims believe that Moses and Jesus were prophets of GOD and so they give them full honor and respect. Jews and Christians do not consider Prophet Muhammad as the prophet of GOD. Thus they are unable to give the same respect and honor to him and to his followers. A Jewish or Christian woman with a Muslim husband will be in a much better position than a Muslim woman with a Jewish or Christian husband will therefor A Muslim woman is not permitted to marry a non-Muslim man, even a Christian or a Jew, unless he becomes a Muslim .....SO if a non muslim likes to marry muslim women all he needs is to study Islam from authentic Islamic writings(books-tapes-internet sites) he will discover that Islam is the true religion of GOD then if he accepts Islam he can marry the muslim women ...

Being married to a non-Muslim, a Muslim wife would not be able to practice her religion as well. The Messenger of Allaah (may Allaah's peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"When a person marries, he has completed half of his eemaan (faith). Let him then have taqwa in regard to the other half" [at-Tabaraanee]

The meaning of this hadeeth is that as a married woman, your faith would be half-completed because your husband would encourage you in righteousness and God-consciousness during the time you spend together. And you would do the same for him. So, marriage is a way for two people to increase in their faith and mutually encourage each other in the religion. This is not possible if a Muslim woman has a disbelieving husband. And therefore, the wife would be losing out on much good by remaining in this marriage. Marrying a non-Muslim man would also be very dangerous for any children they have. As the father, a non-Muslim man would naturally influence the children greatly and raise them according to his own ideals - which are not in accordance with Islam.

Added Coolred- The Hadith that inflammatory posted isnt a weak one. and it doesnt mean we need to completely "worship" the hubby , its jus like "paradise is under the feet of mothers"...it doesnt mean women are lower than men.

Muslim men can marry women "of the book". That means they can marry Jewish, Christian or Muslim women. Muslim women can only marry a Muslim man. This is because men are usually seen as the head of the household. So either he needs to whole-heartedly convert or I guess if he agrees to your children being raised as Muslim then I don't think there should be a problem. The main issue is the children. It is the parent's responsibility to raise their children as Muslims. If one is Muslim and the other isn't there is a chance the children will not be raised Muslim. Hope this helps.

A Muslim man can marry a woman from the People of the Book, meaning that a Muslim man can marry a Jew or a Christian.
Why?
Because the blood lineage would stil be in contact.
When the child is born, he/she would follow the religion of his father. In this way, the child would be a Muslim.
But, if Muslim women marry a Christian or a Jew, then automatically the child would become a Jew or a Christian when the child is born.
But still, Muslim women are preferable.

Muslim men must be very careful not to abuse the permission to marry Christian or Jewish women. If they are devout, practicing Muslims, they should seek Muslim women for wives.

Sadly, there are Muslim men out there who are so careless that they deliberately go outside Muslim ranks to seek Christian or Jewish women for marriage, completely overlooking or ignoring Muslim women. And these men would be very quick to say they can do that "because the Qur'an says so."

If children are to be brought up as Muslims, then both parents must be Muslim. If a Muslim man marries a Christian or Jewish woman, he should know right from the start that the children will be taught Christianity or Judaism. What does he expect her to teach them? He cannot reasonably expect his non-Muslim wife to teach them Islam, and he cannot get upset or angry with her if she doesn't.

According to sacred law a Muslim man can marry a women who is a Christan or Jew and or sabeans (believers in the Prophet Yahya - there are some of these in Iraq).

A Muslim women can only marry a Muslim man. Why? This seems like its wrong doesn't it? Please let me explain.

A Muslim man has to respect the religion of his non Muslim wife, he believes in her Prophet, Moses, Jesus and Yahya (upon them all peace). He respects her book and he has to by sacred law to pay for her daily needs: food, housing etc.

A non-Muslim man on other hand doesn't believe in her Prophet or religion. So he could cause her to loss in her religious action. For example he might prevent her fasting because he doesn't like it or he might stop her praying. He may also refuse to pay for any of her daily needs, he not obliged to do this.

So the reason here is, that the non-Muslim man cannot fulfil her rights either worldly or religiously.

If he did then he would be Muslim. This is in order to protect the woman from harm.

Does this make sense, please ask me to clarify if you do not understand

1. If a man has more than one wife, the parents of the children born of such marriages can easily be identified. The father as well as the mother can easily be identified. In case of a woman marrying more than one husband, only the mother of the children born of such marriages will be identified and not the father. Islam gives tremendous importance to the identification of both parents, mother and father. Psychologists tell us that children who do not know their parents, especially their father undergo severe mental trauma and disturbances. Often they have an unhappy childhood. It is for this reason that the children of prostitutes do not have a healthy childhood. If a child born of such wedlock is admitted in school, and when the mother is asked the name of the father, she would have to give two or more names! I am aware that recent advances in science have made it possible for both the mother and father to be identified with the help of genetic testing. Thus this point which was applicable for the past may not be applicable for the present. 2. Man is more polygamous by nature as compared to a woman. 3. Biologically, it is easier for a man to perform his duties as a husband despite having several wives. A woman, in a similar position, having several husbands, will not find it possible to perform her duties as a wife. A woman undergoes several psychological and behavioral changes due to different phases of the menstrual cycle. 4. A woman who has more than one husband will have several sexual partners at the same time and has a high chance of acquiring venereal or sexually transmitted diseases which can also be transmitted back to her husband even if all of them have no extra-marital sex. This is not the case in a man having more than one wife, and none of them having extra-marital sex. The above reasons are those that one can easily identify. There are probably many more reasons why Allah, in His Infinite Wisdom, has prohibited polyandry. If you have an open mind you will understand. If you are just propagating the anti-islamic "trend" than take a breath!!

Yes, Muslim men can marry the chaste women from people of previous scriptures- Jews and Christians. The women can remain in their religion and it is their free will and choice of accepting Islam as their religion.
A Muslim male marrying a non-Muslim female = the opinions of females regarding religion are not relevant once they choose to marry a Muslim and accept that their children will be raised as Muslims.
A Muslim female marrying a non-Muslim male = the kids will not be raised Muslim, and he is not accepting the hegemony of Islam.

as far as i i understand it, muslim women can marry outside their religion, but is not highly recommended or preferable. It's not double standard as one may see it
Mostly concerned is the right of a muslim women would be impaired having a non muslim husband, unless you are the breadwinner, you have the power in the house.
Under Philippine law, when the male is non muslim and preferred the wedding to be in his religion, you are automatically obligated to change your religion. And the Islam law here does not honor does not allow divorce if wed under civil or church law. But when the male is muslim, the wedding can continue even if the female is non muslim, but people of the book.
You may have what you prefer, but be aware of potential consequences, as Allah swt had given an admonition....in the name of Allah, most gracious, most merciful..Allah will not mislead a people after Allah had guided them,in order that to make clear to us what we must fear and avoid, for Allah had knowledge on all things, Allah knows what is before them or behind them'
