Since the age of 'viability' is fluid (it keeps getting earlier based on improvements in technology) ability to live outside of the womb can't be the determination of when a fetus is actually considered a human.

As an 'American,' by which I mean I was born and came of age in the USA, I am moved to say I really do hope readers of and participants in this ongoing forum do not believe that all of us are as rude and arrogant and full-of-ourselves. The majority of 'Americans'--and by no means am I speaking of the lamentable Bushies--are genereous, caring, honest, and insightful. You will encounter them here now and again. The fundies and their first-cousins, the wacko right-wingers, do their level best to shout them down. (Let me save the fundies a second or two of their time: No, this is not a question).

The missionaries brought Jesus to the Australian aborigines in a very novel way.

After being openly slaughtered for years as being savages whose lives had little value, the early to late/mid 20th century saw missionaries forcibly remove aboriginal children from their parents to assimilate them by fostering them out to white families.

After 50 years of this, it was estimated that every aboriginal family in Australia had been affected by the "lost generations" as it is now refered to.

Now it's been reviled that every single aboringinal community in Australia has a major problem with sexual abuse of children, along with drugs and alcohol.

Why do their lives now have so little meaning compared to what they had in the days of their "dreamtime"?

I just read a question here on R&S about a guy tryng to convert his 4 year daughter to christianism. Atheists are always claiming to be rational, peaceful, accepting and reasonable. Also you always criticise christians for not accepting other peoples beliefs. Look at what has happened in this question, instead of tryng to help the poor guy, most of you proceeded to openly insult him. I mean most of you atheist are very intelligent reasonable people, why not tryng to explain to him that he might be too hung up on religious stuff instead of just insulting him? Woudn’t it help? Wouldn’t even get him to wonder “Hey these pagans are acctually good people, maybe i’ll grow to respect people with beliefs diferent than mine”

OK, everyone bear with me, you are gonna like this one. atheists, I am assuming there is a God, and fundalentalists, I am assuming He created us through evolution.

OK, we evolved through the food chain, and most recently through an animal similar to a modern ape. Well, obviously apes cannot comprehend the idea of God, but we can.

So, could it be that God guided our evolution so that we would be able to communicate with Him? Could He have started us low, and guided our evolution closer and closer to the perfect creature?

Human beings are the first animal to be able to understand God. However, we can't communicate with Him. So, could it be that we just aren't evolved enough yet?

Perhaps in another million years, we will have evolved further, and we will be able to directly communicate with God.
It explains why we have no proof of God.
It explains why we evolved the way we did.

What do you guys think?
