I see the name everywhere, but I've never known exactly who is being honored--is it the Virgin Mary? Is it Mary, mother of John (who is the only "St. Mary" without an additional part to her name, such as "Magdalene" or "Bartholomea of Florcence," mentioned on www.catholic.org)?

It would seem strange that it is used to refer to Mary, the Mother of God, (I mean, we don't ever say "St. Jesus") but are there really 3.7 million Google hits for "St. Mary" and 1.2 million more for "Saint Mary" if the name refers to the apostle John's mother?

Thanks.

Romans 8

38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[m] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Just wanted to share that we have an indescribable love in God.

It is not me in deed, but a priest at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral says she is also a Muslim. Doesn't it mean that it is one religion in deed as all the Abrahamic religions come from the same source? What do you think?

Assuming there is a God, and we were created by him/her, the creation seems incomplete or untruthful to the creator’s talents, as we think he/she to have.

I must subject myself to the understanding of a creator artist, sculptor, etc. What I mean is this, we believe that Gods is perfect, as such would want to showcase his "talent" in his creation.

In the Bible we were created in the image of God, similar to a artist or sculptors greatest work, where they would try to remove any flaw they see in themselves, or in the case of grotesque drawings add them.

Since gods whole creation is not only a image, but soul, and mind, I must ask weather or not he added his flaws, or removed them, thus making us more perfect then "he", or are we incomplete, in which any flaws the creation has is the result of incompletion. Thus the lives we live are apart of the creation, and Prophets are the tools use in the process, to remove flaws.

I.E. Be Perfect as the father in heaven- Jesus

Is it just the religious Christian women here that are so frightened by sexuality? I have never seen a culture (outside of Islam) that looks down on women so much. I know, I know, just like Muslims you will say you RESPECT women, that's why you keep them covered up, protected and "pure," but we all know the truth.

What is the True purpose of Desire?

Should we be Open to Desire?
Or, should we Conquor Desire?

"Chassez le naturel, il revient au galop."
(Means: Chase away the natural, and it comes back at a gallop.)

As Desire is Natural, should we be chasing it away? Or, should we awaken to it's true potential?

Thoughts, Opinions, Ideas...?

Most of the christian holidays coincide with pagan rituals that predate christianity by thousands of years. In addition, the christian prophet looks surprisingly similar to surviving images of Zeus.

I don't think it would. I personally don't believe in God, but I feel like even if we were absolutely certain that he was real we would still do bad things.

Think how many people do bad things that are convinced that God exists. Think of all the people who are in prison for homicide that truly believed in God before they committed the crime. Just look at the pastor from Colorado that was visiting a prostitute and taking drugs. I find it hard to believe that he didn't really believe in God and the last few decades of his life were just an act.

I think if we knew for sure it would make it easier, but it would not completely take away free will.

What do you think?

Quoting from one of the post I just read,
"Even though I am a Christian and believe I will go to Heaven when I die... I believe God put me here for a reason and, when He is ready to call me home, He will." Then, why would a devout christian who's diagnosed with a potentially terminal illnes attempt all that is possible to extend their life (going to the doctor, surgery, etc). Isn't this diagnose the so called "call home by him"?

Are you willing to have an open discussion ( it appears there are some out there) or do the rest of us just have to put up with the smug comments by those whop hold to the same belief? I know some of you are decent respectful people and I would love to have an open discussion on religion with you, but so far answers are either ignored, mocked or given an ad hominem answer. Are there any of you willing to just discuss the subject without this? I doubt I would end up changing your basic mind on theology but I might change your mind on those of us who hold those ideas and we both might learn something. This is not an attack on all of you, but you know that there are some who you wish would believe something else so they don't embarass you with their conduct (been there done that) Is anyone up to discussion rather than mudraking?

In this story all of these people died when god opened the flood gates in heaven, except Noah and his family. I am assumming all these people died because they were non believers or hated god for some reason. I am also assuming that little children died too. Children mind you, that don't have the mental capacity to believe in such BS.

Christians!, Cool child killing god you have ! (Easy to upset and hard to please)

Not saying I believe this mythological nonsense, but strikes me as odd how this day and age how christian can go along with this garbage .

P.S. Just to let you christians know that believe this nonsense.
(1) This story was copied from the babaylonians.
(2) There were cilvilizations at the time of this so called flood that were taking detailed chronological records, and the odd thing is that they did not realize their own destruction.
(3) I will have fun kicking the first christian in the *** that trys to feed my children this Junk.
(4) please respond!

mentioned in the Bible. Were these churches different religions or just a place for believers to go worship..and also, were the people that went to these different churches condemed at all by God? If not, then does that or could that mean that today, people of all faiths have God's favor if they are believers and good Christian people?
