ok, even assuming that the original, uncut, untranslated books of the bible are the inspired word of god, assuming god does exist, why would you believe that it's not possible that men such as kings would have had it altered or edited in order to control people?

I personally think "God" was created and imagined by people to explain the things we did not understand like the ocean, nature, animals, weather, etc... There has to be a higher being that created all this beuty and unexplainable phenominas like lighting, right!! Now we have an understanding about how the world really works and yet people still are insisting that there is a God. Every culture in the world has some sort of religion that they believe in as much as christians do in God. So christians another question! Is every religion in the world wrong besides yours?

First, how are embryos created for in vitro?

Fertility doctors create embryos by removing eggs from a woman's fallopian tubes and fertilizing them with sperm in a petri dish. Because of the pain and expense — one IVF cycle can cost up to $10,000 — and a failure rate of more than 60%, doctors routinely create more embryos than they implant in a woman's uterus. Those left over are frozen for possible use later.

Those embryos, are created in an 'unnatural way'. A man and a woman did not have sex to create them they were formed in a lab in a petri dish. Perhaps that in itself would be an 'abomination' in the eyes of God and would have been documented in the OT, had the process been around when it was written (just saying.)

Women release an egg every menstrual cycle, that we know from experience, most of the time is never fertilized. Which is why a lot of women would like to donate their eggs to stem cell research, because they aren't going to use them.

Aren't you greatful that you're not OF the world?
You know he prayed that HIS would be ONE. Are you not full of joy that you are one of His? I believe God answered the prayer of jesus before He died in the flesh. Do you?

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

Many pagan, earth centered religions seem to have a feminine side to them by focusing on nature, fertility, and nurturing. Some of the most prominent modern religions focus more heavily on rules, punishment, war, and wrath, more masculine features. I know these concepts are gender stereotypes, but it's not an uncommon impression.

Even if I would try desperately...
I can't bring myself to think of homosexuals as sinners.
I can't bring myself to think that abortion is wrong in all cases.
I can't bring myself to think euthanasia is wrong in all cases.

I believe in freedom for anybody, as long as they don't hurt others. God seems to be having a bit of a problem with that very simple, basic concept.

Why on earth should I accept Jesus into my heart, and with that start to condemn my few gay friends, that 14 year old raped girl who desperately needed an abortion, that very ill 91 year old man who is begging for euthanasia, etc, etc. ?

I was raised in a Christian family and have always believed in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that he died on the cross to give me eternal life. Yet I have been told by some that if I change my sex, I will not be allowed in Heaven after I die. I don't want to spend eternity in Hell, but I also don't want to spend the rest of my life here on earth as a man.

Do you truly not see the difference?

A sheep does not have free will to do what he wants...

But, what two consenting adults do, is between them...and does not affect an innocent.

So, why does gay marriage threaten the fundamentalists so?

Especially, if you put away the memorized Bible verses that you will regurgitate....that you have been taught to use in this exact scenario...what threat are gay people to our world?

Doesnt the bible state that any attempt to communicate with the dead will get you a one way ticket into the lake of fire?

I have been researching the Mormon religion and I am now convinced that millions of people are being deceived in this world.

and what about all of these GREAT and powerful cities mentioned in the BOM.. where did they go? and the idea that Native Americans are ancient Israelites who crossed the Pacific Ocean in a boat.... DNA evidence and HISTORY shows that they crossed the Bering Strait into America.

I am in no place to judge another person's religion, that would be a sin, but I just cant buy into it. my wife's family are morman and it is really hard to ask them anything without feeling like I offended them. I just want some answers.. thanks guys

The Dutch naturalist Anthony van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723) produced lenses powerful enough to prove that many tiny creatures are not spontaneously generated but are produced from eggs. The science of Embryology as we know it today did not discover many of the detailed aspects of human embryonic development until the 1970s, using powerful microscopes, ultra sound and fiber optics technology. See how the Quran described the stages of embryonic development.

"God fashioned man from a small quantity (of sperm)" (16:4)

Fertilization takes place with only one sperm among several tens of million produced by man.

"Then We placed him as a drop in a place of rest" (23:13)

Implantation of the blastocyst in the uterus.

"Then We made the drop into a leech like structure..." (23:14)

This resemblance of the human embryo to a leech is an appropriate description of the human embryo from days 7-24, when it clings to the endometrium of the uterus.

"And He (God) gave you hearing and sight and feeling and understanding." (32:9)

The internal ears appear before the eyes, and the brain (the sight of understanding) differentiates last.

Dr. E. Marshall Johnson Professor of Anatomy, concluded after studying verses from Quran: "The Quran describes not only the development of external form but emphasizes also the internal stages - the stages inside the embryo of its creation and development, emphasizing major events recognized by contemporary science... so I see nothing in conflict with the concept that divine intervention was involved"

I am reading previous questions and I am finding that SOME people who don't believe in God act as if they are better or pointing out imperfections of Christians like "many gang members are Christians" Can you really base ALL Christians in that catagory.....Can you base ALL Christians to be good? Can you really base Most Atheists to be better people? (like some have said) Can you base ALL to be bad? I have seen some Atheists to be more cocky, so to speak, about answer questions. I also find that some Christians are a little cocky. One group can't say they are better than the other because news flash neither of the groups are acting better! I am a Christian and I don't think Atheists are worse than Christians because I see us as people being individuals and believing what we want. Isn't that enough? fearing God is not the only reason most Christians do good it is in Human nature. Christians and Atheists do good for the well being of our communities Christians also do it for God.

I am 14 and was raised Christian.

This year in Science and Geography we learned about the big bang theory and eveolution. These are both quite reasonable and have me questioning religion.

I'm not sure what to do because 99% of me agrees with these theorys but the other 1% is going "you're going to hell. you know that, right?"

Some advice would be nice, please and thanks.

i am not interested in CARS. Therefore, you will not EVER see me in cars section.

similarly, if atheists are NOT INTERESTED in religion, or whatsoever, or God, or some "mythological figure", why would they even bother clicking on "Religion and Spirituality" and answering and questioning?

i am not interested in cars, i WOULD NOT even click on cars section in the first place!

so are they really interested?
