No rule. Many pagans in our community donate and volunteer for Christian charities. There are so few of us that our efforts are better spent helping in established charity organizations.
Many of my family, friends and co-workers are Christian and I have absolutely no issues about helping them out when I can. Just because I don't believe in that religion doesn't make it invalid or any less fulfilling for those who do.
I'm pagan but not a Wiccan.

If you are working for a worthy cause, it doesn't matter who you are working with. I'm not Wiccan, but I am Pagan. While I most definitely disagree with a lot of what many, (not all) Christians say and believe about us, I am not against any religion or spirituality.
I think you are doing a good thing. Tell those other Wiccans who give you weird looks that if they want to be more accepted then they have to DO something about it, and helping in other organizations, volunteering is a good way to do that. Most Wiccan and other Pagan groups or individuals don't have an organization they can go to, to help out, so if you want to help, go where you are needed. If you can find non-religious organizations to volunteer for that's fine, but if you can't, you go with what you have.
Good work.

Most of the Wiccans I've known have a serious problem with christianity in general (usually based on experiences from childhood). But if you want to help, don't let them deter you. It doesn't matter what the religion of the group or your own religion is. A helping hand is always appreciated. Who knows, maybe you can help to close the cultural gap that exists between the two groups in your area, and that is worth the time.

Why? I'd think you'd get more "weird looks" from Christians, not from Wiccans... unless your "fellow Wiccans" are folks who are Wiccan more for the "shock value" of being non-Christian than for the actual spiritual path itself.

it's funny but it ought to be the other way around. that's why so-christians are called elitists, there's a scripture that says bad associations spoil useful habits. it's not meant to be offensive to you, but by not being a follower of christ, they wouldn't forge as close a bond with you. they would not hate you or shun you. it's not the person, it's the behaviour.
it's like the modern day jews.........they believe that jesus was just a good man and was not the messiah. jesus is either the messiah or a great scam artist. if he was nothing but a good man, that would make him a liar and what's so good about that. lots of people would look at that as anti semitism, but we're tolerant. i just feel funny having a close relationship with individuals that say my whole faith and lifesyle is a lie, and bash my saviour in the process. if your friends decided that your own mother was a liar and a fraud and wasn't even really your mother, but is nice nonetheless, would you decide that they can have their opinion and promote this notion? or would you be loyal to your mother? would you defend her name? would these folks still be your best friends?

That's too bad. I have friends who are Wiccan who also have no issue with donating money, even if it's to a Christian organization. Just make sure that your donations are going where they're supposed to be. Some of those "Christian" organizations just use the name "Christian" so they can take peoples' money.
Maybe that's why you're getting weird looks.

People are people first, their religious choices are just "gravy". Many Wiccans see that anything helping Christianity, which has had a role in persecuting them, and many Christians still do, as crossing a line. If you're altruistic, then do what you do and don't worry about what other people think of you. You'll go nuts trying to please everyone's opinions.

Of course not!! Intent makes all the difference. If you are trying to help people it doesn't matter if you are helping a purple alien organization. Pagans tend to get testy with Christians, I find myself doing it all the time. It's like a big fat line has been drawn between them and us. But your doing the right thing
Blessed Be

Ah, see you are running into some of the "Wiccans" who are into Wicca simple because it's not Christianity. It's what I refer to as the rebel-without-a-clue syndrome.
Keep on keeping on with what makes you happy and ignore the ignorance.

I've been Wiccan for over 20 years, and I've noticed that in the past ten or so, we've gained a lot of terrible Wiccans.
Find a good trad, join it, and hang with trad buddies instead of "general" Wiccans.
They'll be more grown-up, and know what they are talking about.
My coven does habitat for humanity builds, for crying out loud.
