God determines when we die. We long to see Him. But He gave us work to do here on earth. I also believe God gave us sense. That translates into trying to save one's life.
On the other hand, if we realize that methods which are extreme with little chance of success are being used, we may choose to have the heroics suspended. The fact that we will see Jesus makes this decision easier.

We also have a brain and free-will, and are blessed with the ability to live the best quality of life possible. If one has the option, there is no point in living it in mysery or dying unnecessarily through neglect or ignorance. I don't believe that was ever God's intention, since we have the knowledge to do otherwise. The intervention of a medical doctor is as equally justifiable as the Good Samaritan.

Good question. Since you are referring to me in the passage you quoted, let me answer this one too. :) Life is God's most precious gift. Sure, I could go to heaven and be free from pain and suffering. But, I still have work to do here on earth. One example is, I have 2 daughters I still need to be here for and to help them not only in life, but, continue to witness to them about Christ. They are not saved (their words, not my judgement) so I definitely want to spend as much time with them as possible. There are other goals and things I want to do before I am called home. Just because you' re a Christian doesn't mean you don't believe in medicine and doctors..lol. Besides, who would be here to give all you non believers "thanks" for all your questions? lol. Have a great day!

Because living is not about death. God put us here to make the world a better place, and we really can only most effectively do that in life. It's our duty to do everything in our power to live, but should our efforts not come through, then it's simply not meant to be. I know it seems hypocritical, but frankly I'd accept the peace from this frame of thought over anxiety of death any day.

Why give up so early, are we to assume we know the plan of God? History is his canvas. Doctors are a great blessing... of-course we should always remember to pray, I think the laying on of hands with prayer can heal anything (especially things medicine cant), but its is quite wise to see human health and healing from a wholistic perpsective.

I don't see it as a direct call from home all the time , just another experience for us to go through and for the people around us. If he wants us he will take us, no matter what there is out there to help our health.

When I went to see my Dr. the other day, he told me it had been 18 years since I was there last. I knew it had been a long time but I didn't think that long.
So I guess the answer for me would be no. As far as I'm concerned, if Jesus came back today, it wouldn't be soon enough.

not at all. Things happen in our lives to teach us things; teach others etc. I am a christian, had cancer went to the doctor etc and am now ok. Just because we are all going to die doesn't mean if you get sick you should just lay down and die. Not how it works. God made Doctors to help us heal.

Yes I will and just because someone contracts an illness that doesn't mean it's time to die. Read the Bible. It's filled with accounts of people overcoming seemingly impossible situations.

I'm not christian, but I understand what that person means.
We will die when time calls, but there's nothing wrong with going to a doctor. Everything comes in it's time, and person should do everything possible to keep him/herself healthy and safe, there's nothing wrong with that.
Peace.
