Seriously?

He wanted humans to torture and crucify his only son so He could forgive us our sins?

Torturing and crucifying Jesus was -pleasing- to the Lord?

So pleasing He forgave us our sins?

This is what you call a "loving god"?

He couldn't have just forgiven the sins without the torture and crucifixion? He isn't that loving? He couldn't have let Jesus make a heart-felt prayer to forgive us our sins and skipped the torture and crucifixion?

He couldn't let Jesus take over the world this time around? Had to wait for some unknown future time?

This is the Good Shepherd: the one who has done nothing while millions of His sheep kill each other century after century after century, most of it in His name?

After 2000 years of trying to get it right, this is the best you got to show for it?

This is God's "Perfect Plan"?

Seriously?

This is a serious question...I am confused. The Jews practiced a religion that involved an external God. Jesus came to earth preaching we are all sons of God, he is within us all. He didn't say God was external, but God only existed within us. Without our faith of that, there would be no God. Tell me then - why do Christians pray to an external God? Jesus was killed on the cross by the Jews for the blasphemic idea that God didn't exist, but that he was in each and every one of us. Doesn't that make Christians practice Judaism in a way?

i think this sums it up very good..No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain these blessings than United America. Wonderously strange, then, and much to be regretted indeed would it be, were we to neglect the means and to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to so plainly; I cannot believe it will ever come to pass" George Washington, 1788
(E)very man, conducting himself as a good citzen, and being accountable to God alone for his religious opinion.......George Washington

I dunno about you but we actually care about Religion and spirituality... not a lack of it.

Some of you say you like to come here and "Discuss" which is ENTIRELY impossible considering it's only answering questions...

So answer me this... How do most of you answer our Questions when we talk about God? I'd imagine you would all answer the same way (doens't exist: very original btw)... and you have... everytime i've ever posted a question.

And when Christians ask questions about faith concerning relationships or what not... more personnal ish stuff... you all insult and belittle us(whereas Christians actually help).

tellin us God doens't exist and providing facts and proof of evolution is all meaningless and whatever scientific garbage you spill.

It's actually almost impossible for you to give any of our questions a real answer or anything that actually matters to us... and i'm not generalizing, that's a fact.

I have heard such outragous claims made by religious people personally.

What sorts of nutty, and funny claims have you heard from the mouths of the faithful to the ears of "god" ?

Follow me on this. Intelligent design says that certain natural phenomenon, especially those that can not yet be proven through the scientific method, are caused by a higher, intelligent power. So, a few hundered years ago, people would not have had the data to understand and harness the power of electricity and therefore weather and lightning were made from God's hands. There would have been teachings in school to stop using the scientific method to test theories, alter variables, and provide evidence. The teachings would have said "electricity can not be explained by scientific evidence, therefore god shoots it out of his pinky." If people believed in this, they would have given up on electricity. We would have not had electricity today nor would we have the benefits that have come from it.

All things were made by Him (see John 1:3), including dinosaurs. Why then did the dinosaur disappear? The answer may be in Job 40:15–24. In this passage, God speaks about a great creature called "behemoth." Some commentators think this was a hippopotamus. However, the hippo’s tail isn’t like a large tree, but a small twig. Following are the characteristics of this huge animal: It was the largest of all the creatures God made; was plant-eating (herbivorous); had its strength in its hips and a tail like a large tree. It had very strong bones, lived among the trees, drank massive amounts of water, and was not disturbed by a raging river. He appears impervious to attack because his nose could pierce through snares, but Scripture says, "He that made him can make his sword to approach unto him." In other words, God caused this, the largest of all the creatures He had made, to become extinct.

Isn't that a little like telling me I have to believe in 6-foot tall rabbits before I'll start seeing them?

Over and Over I am told I have to take a leap of faith first.

But isn't that what Hitler did when he decided to take over the world and wipe out the Jews?

They say "read the bible". How many popes "read the bible" and decided it was time to kill a new batch of heretics, or start a war against the Mulsims? How many preachers on either side of the Civil War preached that God does/doesn't condone slavery?

They say "read it with an open mind", but "open mind" looks a lot like the "closed mind" of a religious zealot.

Then when nothing works, they say I'm not "serious" enough or "sincere" enough. In other words, since I'm not a believer, I can't find God.

Bottom line seems to be I'm supposed to take their word for it: God is real. Would you buy a car like that? If not, how less likely is it you will swear life-long allegiance to a god with no more reason than that?

of the grave sight of Charles Taze Russell..Have you ever viewed it? It is a huge Pyamid with a cross and crown on all sides engraved in stone and the workds Watchtower and also the words "Laodician Messenger" engraved in it. I doubt you guys will ever look it up to see for your self. But, if he was a prophet wouldn't he know that Jehovah's Witnesses do not have anything to do with the cross emblem? What are your thoughts about this?

For those Christians (and those who only call themselves that) who believe that marriage should only take place between a man and a woman...Why aren't families more supportive when they find out their daughter is marrying a man who is obviously gay, or a straight man who is marrying a lesbian? Doesn't that count as an attempt to "redeem" them?

It's kinda' funny to think that none of us know who the other people are... I mean, you and I could be working together tomorrow and we'd never know... anyway, it's fun.
