Dear Miss bettierage:

If we get our theology solely from circumstances, we will come to the conclusion that God does not love us.

It is primarilly through faith that one finds and experiences the kind, loving God that is our Heavenly Father. If we truly seek God (with faith that He is real) - not looking for "proof" of existence - God will be faithful to reveal Himself to us - as he is unchanging. If he heard the prayers of those who earnestly sought to know Him (as Cornelius did) - God certainly hears and honors the prayers of those today who seek to know Him more.

One thing left out of the Creation/Evolution debate, I think, that is often overlooked by the Evolution crowd is people's feelings; in the sense that random chance is not sufficient to describe how I feel about my life and my future. Random chance does not explain our will to survive and will to continue, and desire to maintain life/ consciousness/ awareness/ continuity.

Inasmuch as such a will to remember and know and communicate can be called god, I think there is very strong indication it exists. And it is in some ways distinct from the material world.

Though distinct, it is intrinsic in every interaction between particles; every collision and every exchange of energy is a communication, whether it is understood by sentience or drowned in a sea of noise.

This idea of "god" as "will" being intrinsic in all things is discounted by both theists and atheists. Many of the proponents of the idea of "God in All Things" are into crystals and telekinesis and they sometimes take the "power of positive thinking" to extremes.

But this does not change the fact that human will and the power of thought has brought about all the advances we see around us today.

Carl Sagan said "...if by 'God' one means the set of physical laws that govern the universe, then clearly there is such a God. This God is emotionally unsatisfying . . . it does not make much sense to pray to the law of gravity."

Certainly the laws of physics such as gravity and entropy do not seem worthy of worship--Things fall down; Things tend to a more disordered state. Those things we are constantly fighting against!

...but life does miracles in its defiance both gravity and entropy. And it does so by many techniques. Perhaps they can be listed and enumerated--will, communication, memory, etc... But maybe the whole set of things which defy such laws of physics could be called god, and it loves us because it made us, and it wants exactly what we want when we are being selfless, and pursuing greater life, whatever that may mean.

Because we don't truly know what it means to pursue greater life. We are pretty much guaranteed never to understand, and in that guarantee, lies the beauty and the mystery.

No.
Anything else is a rehash of the Argumentum ad Ignorantium or anecdotal evidence (which is proof of nothing).

1. Look at X, it is so marvelous/beautiful/intelligent.
2. You/I/No one can explain how such a thing could have come to be.
3. Therefore, God made it. <-- non sequitur coupled with argument from ignorance

Anecdote:
1. Event Y happened to me.
2. Because of an event like Y, I should be dead.
3. I am not dead.
4. This is because God saved me. <-- not only a non sequitur/correlation fallacy, but incredibly arrogant
5. Therefore, God exists.

"Why does he want to kill all the non-believers and wicked people rather than help them?" ..... He does want to help them, that's why he gave us his word (The Bible) and why Jesus came and died to pay our debt to God. "Thats all they need, some help and support to realise why they are wrong / evil." ..... They do realize it, but they like being that way so much that they don't want to change. "I mean I wouldn't damn someone to eternal torment / total destruction simply cause they didn't believe in me or did something wrong." ..... You are speaking as an imperfect human, made by a perfect God. 1) You don't know what you would do if you were in His position. 2) What right have you to question your creator? Do you have all the knowledge that He has? "Either he is a God of justice, or a God of love. He can't be both." ..... He is both. He is just, so sin demands its consequence. He is loving and merciful, so He made a way to reconcile us to him. "And yes, quoting scriptures doesn't help your argument!" .... I am not arguing, I'm answering your question to the best of my ability. It's your decision to accept His love or reject it, and I believe that you will regret it if you choose to turn away from Him.

yaa, if you an Athiests it'll be harder for you to understand or care.

But you actually take the time to have faith that maybe the universe is organized to help you... not matter how insignificant you feel... it will help you. Be a good person and don't rely on anything else cept God.

God has never put me into a situation i couldn't get out... and face it how often would God put you into a life threatening situation? What are the risks in believing that maybe there is a God?

We are still alive. He could have wiped out Adam & Eve to start over fresh.

Look at the planet. Everything we need to survive is here. The earth is precisely in the right place to the sun and tilted just enough for seasons and with a moon that controls tide and weather patterns. Things like that don't happen by accident.

I will not leave Scripture "out of it." Scripture is replete with the evidence. His sacrifice for our sins is all the "indication" anyone needs. If you don't accept that, then all the other indicators that you see around you, ever day, will mean nothing.

Hello 'bettierage' :
Start believing by looking at yourself. Stand in front of your mirror.
With all of your intelligence, could you ever create a human ? Eyesight ... incredible !
Beautiful hair ... made from protein !
A mouth and tongue ... for speaking and communication ! Also eating for nourishment !
Hearing ... without this your rock & roll music would be meaningless !
Muscles ... to let you walk outside and view the rest of this unbelievably fabulous creation !
Trees ... do you enjoy breathing ?
Cows ... do you like hamburgers ? ... milk ? ... steak dinners ? ... hotdogs ?
Flowers ... of course, all women love flowers ( and don 't forget the choclates ! )
Your boyfriend .. who created him ?
At any rate, this list is endless !
Still don 't believe ?

I must say yes. I was hit by a car as I was WALKING-- the driver was drunk and the police indicated the driver was doing 85mph when he hit me. I should be dead, and yet here I sit. I had some broken bones and lots of scars. Satan knew God's plan for me and since I was in Satan's grasp and a follower but was coming to God he wanted me dealth with but God prevailed above all else.

Leaving scripture out of it leaves you only with subjective analysis. Do you want proof, or a warm fuzzy feeling?
