The Bible does list names for the kings, nor does it give their number as "three". Because there were three types of gifts given (gold, frankincense and myrrh), it has become a tradition that there were three kings named Balthazar, Caspar, and Melchior. (There are several different spellings for the names)

If you read the second chapter of Matthew, were their story is told, you will find that they travelled in a large enough group that when they arrived in Jerusalem, the whole city was "trouble" (meaning scared) by their appearrance. Three guys on camels would not have that affect.

If they followed the custom of that day, they probably travelled in a group of several hundred, including soldiers to protect them while traveling, personal body guards, wives, children, tents, furniture, clothing, food, weapons, etc.

Balthazar, Gaspar, and Melchior.

Nothing in the bible actually states names though. To be even more specific, the bible doesn't even say there were three of them. The number is just an interpretation and the names have just become tradition.
