If you believe in God but what you believe about him isn't true, that's a big thing. Jesus said the truth would set us free. He gave the Church He founded the fullness of truth so that we might be free. Denominational religion means deviation from the truth. The beliefs of denominations conflict with one another on every conceivable point. Truth cannot conflict with truth, therefore most of these conflicting beliefs are obviously false. And that is why it matters a great deal whether you belong to the one true Church founded for you by Jesus Christ, or to one of the thousands of unauthorized, conflicting manmade denominations that have been formed in the past few hundred years, in direct violation of the stated will of God, "that they all may be ONE".

Kim, i Have discovered that all beliefs lead to God in their own fashion , manifestation or rituals, through the ages it's become about dogma who has the right one. And the answer is No one, and Everyone!
It shouldn't matter, and a good way to start is by showing it your self don't choose or discriminate your friends by their beliefs especially if this has happened to you. My suggestion is look around learn read into different religions and denominations you will find how each denomination got started very interesting , it was usually due to a difference in opinion view , or wanting to change things to suit a time situation or belief.Everyone should be respected for their own forms of spirituality or religion.
Eastern cultures are very old and carry alot of wisdom that can answer many questions too. the point is , "BE the change you wish to SEE in the world."(words of Mahatma Gandhi) Blessings.

It is for the same reason that some people like fords and some like chevys. Some like sports cars and some like pick up trucks. We are all different. Each of us has our own preferences and want to be with like minded people. If a person does not agree with the interpretation of the Catholics then he becomes a protestant. And once a protestant then there are many models to choose from. This becomes a problem only when someone begins to interpret erroneously and strays away from the original intent of the Gospel. Most differences are not regarding core theology but peripheral issues like spiritual gifts, baptism and worship style. There will be no differences in heaven.

Personally, I am a Baptist. We identify with other Christians on the major issues like the bodily resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, the Trinity, etc...
One difference is the act of baptism. A new christian in a baptist church is baptized by immersion, after their public profession of faith. Some denominations believe you are not truly saved until you are baptized. Some denominations sprinkle your head with water, rather than total immersion.
There are a few others, but the reason that there are different denominations of Christians is most likely due to different interpretations of scripture.

The Catholic Church is the only church in which you can receive the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist every day. We also have all seven sacraments that were instituted by Christ to give grace to us. We have the teachings of the Apostles and their successors for the past 2000 years.
THAT is a big deal.

The Church within EVERY Denomination -
The church is within every denomination throughout the entire world.
We who are in Christ Jesus have become a “new” creature (Gal.6:15, 2 Cor.5:17 below). We have BECOME the church of God (1 Cor.10:32, 1 Cor.1:2, 1 Cor.15:9, Gal.1:13 below), Jesus’ living body (Col.1:24 below).
No matter which denomination one attends, the living body of Christ is there.
Gal.6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature (2 Cor.5:17 below).
2 Cor.5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (Gal.6:15 above): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
1 Cor.10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
Col.1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for His body's sake, which IS the church (1 Cor.10:32 above).
1 Cor.1:2 Unto the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above) which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:
1 Cor.15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above).
Gal.1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above), and wasted it:
Eph.2:16 And that he might RECONCILE BOTH (Jews and Gentiles) unto God IN ONE BODY (the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32 above) by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Because Christians are such a contentious lot. None can agree on a single interpretation of the bible, so they pick and choose and build their own man made religion.
btw, Catholicism was NOT the first Christian religion, whoever believes that has not done an accurate study of history. But then, so few christians do that, it would force them to see some of the lies promulgated by the various christian sects.

It won't be an issue in Heaven, but there are disagreements now. Most are slight, but some are major issues. Each believes his or her own way. That won't change until God clears things up.

They all have very good reasons for saying that the other denominations are false and do not provide a path to heaven. Since I think we should respect all of their beliefs, and they all bel;ieve that the others are wrong, then we should respect the conclusion that they are all wrong.

Some denominations seem to be straying from Christianity. Some are saying man-made rules are necessary to be a Christian.
If you want specifics, ask, although it'll probably offend members of those denominations.
