i think this sums it up very good..No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain these blessings than United America. Wonderously strange, then, and much to be regretted indeed would it be, were we to neglect the means and to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to so plainly; I cannot believe it will ever come to pass" George Washington, 1788

Whatever country you were born into, as a child, you are not aware of what was imposed into you not even if you should know that you have a choice or not. A family tradition is what you see as you grow up and your mind as a child would always think of it as normal. As a child you only learn what people inside your house or your immediate environment do and only when you start going to school, that becomes the beginning steps to learning about other things outside your home. Some people grow up happily with what they have been accustomed to. Some people start looking for their own niche to believe in. Some countries in Europe have even disregarded religion as a way of life and yet they have been more peaceful than those who depend on someone's protection every night through prayers.
US may have given you an impression that it is the only country where you can have a free choice of religion but actually I can tell you that even in communist country like China where religion is taboo, they too have people embracing different religions.
