So, a few hundered years ago, people would not have had the data to understand and harness the power of electricity and therefore weather and lightning were made from God's hands. There would have been teachings in school to stop using the scientific method to test theories, alter variables, and provide evidence. The teachings would have said "electricity can not be explained by scientific evidence, therefore god shoots it out of his pinky." If people believed in this, they would have given up on electricity. We would have not had electricity today nor would we have the benefits that have come from it.
