I've been explained the Holy ghost a thousand times I still don't get it, could someone explain it to me in simple words, like I'm a child if you will. (My current understanding is that it is kinda like the Force in Star Wars)

Synopsis: "After she gets pregnant, a teenager finds herself shunned at her Baptist high school by her classmates and her devoutly religious friend who tries to get anyone outside the popular mainstream crowd expelled."

I'm atheist and I loved the movie, because to me it seemed to cover all the ranges of Christianity, the good and the bad. It was a cute comedy, and I loved the message at the end where the pregnant girl teaches that they should all be more accepting of other religions, homosexuality, and (obviously) teen pregnancy.

If you haven't seen it, I think you should. I'm not sure how Christians will view it, as it does poke a little fun in the beginning.

"First is my plea to all biblical scholars to take seriously their responsibility in caring for God’s people. Scholars bear a sacred duty not to alarm lay readers on issues that they have little understanding of."

why would god create a bible with problems that even an eminent textual critic admits that there are things about it that a layperson would be absolutely confounded on? Not every christian throughout all ages had the resources of contemporary apologetics, so how were they to know that all was well concerning the bible?

Out of 31 Aswers there were:

16 Non Belivers
15 Believers (In a God or Religion)

There were lots of good answers but the one I liked the most was
Hedgewitch's
"Iam Pagan". Yes I believe in a Creator God. I like to answer questions about my beliefs for anyone who is interested and I try to take a bit of the fear factor out of people's understanding of God. "

I did not like it because of her religion. I liked it because I thought she had a lot of respect for people with religions other than her own.
So according to the poll its a half and half enviroment. With those odds would it ever be possible to try and discuss things between each group without offfending the other even if you dont have the same view?

Just Wondering because I dont see where hate and religion should ever go together if we are all in here about religion or the lack of religion?

Thanks for everybody's help

What is wrong with asking for prayers for my baby boy who is 21 months old and is autistic? He was just diagnosed and I am heartbroken as his mother and asked for prayers and got a lot of responses. I did pick a best answer but I see they removed the question. Why would they do that? Would someone actually complain that I asked for prayer for my child? Makes no sense.

Dawkins argues that God must be more complex than the universe and life he created. Since complexity comes arises from the gradual process of evolution, God (who skipped this process) must be very improbable.

Is this argument valid? Is it circular?

((From a logical standpoint))

Could it really be that some Christians believe that their current and future behavior has no bearing on their ultimate destination?

Or am I misinterpreting again?

Please, enlighten me.
