Are people still getting stoned today? Kind of makes going to gas chamber seem like a trip to Disneyland.

There are still some very primitive societies in the world where people are still getting stoned as a form of justice.There was a man named Steven in the Bible who was stoned.

Stephen was stoned. New Testament.
And you know, this isn't a joke. A huge group of men stoned to death a young kurdish girl over in the middle east recently. They were even sick enough to video it on their cell phones.

The first was the man who gathered some woods on a Sabbath day. as it was written on the Book of Numbers.
The next was Jesus when he was stoned by his mother Mary after he asked, "Who among you have not sinned must cast the first stone." Mary was said to be sinless.

Paul was also stoned.
The people participated in order to make an impression on any others who might choose to do likewise. This made for a great deterrent.
