looked down upon by many "Christians" for doing the same thing Jesus did. Does anyone understand why? It doesn't make sense to me.

There have been horrible atrocities commited by evil men in the name of God, undoubtedly. But what I find mind boggling is how selective we can be with our memories. Has the world forgotten the HUGE benefical impacts organized religion has had on the world. The development of empires, the rescue of legions of impoverished and diseased people, the asylum granted to political refugees throughout history. Not to mention the heavy influence in the development and sustinence of the American and British nations and their rise to power. The work of missionaries all over the globe, going into the most remote areas of the world bringing foods, supplies and medicine to the needy. Wars which we celebrate like the American Revolution and WWII were all lead by the moral and ethical arm of organized religion. Need I go on? The good most certainly out weighs the bad. Do the math.

You know for a fact that the majority of you are religious because that is what you were brought up with, if you were born in another country you would be muslim for example-you know this!
You know for a fact that you cannot all be right.
You know for a fact that man has worshipped hundreds of god throughout the ages, why is yours so special?
You know for a fact that prayer doesn't work and that you simply select something good that occured then attribute that to a prayer conveniently forgetting the other 1000 prayers not answered!
You know for a fact that 2000 years ago the 'list' of things that 'god must have done' has got narrower and narrower over time due to science, reason and knowledge.
Why not answer my question instead of running away? Don't say 'you will never uinderstand god' as that is not satisfactory. No bible quotes either. I would like you to agree or refute my points one by one and explain why?

You should be familiar with the Peter principle to answer this question. If you think this is a biblical reference you missed the boat.

The Peter Principle is a colloquial principle of hierarchiology, stated as "In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence." Formulated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter in his 1968 book of the same name, the Peter Principle pertains to the level of competence of the human resources in a hierarchical organization. The principle explains the upward, downward, and lateral movement of personnel within a hierarchically organized system of ranks.(from wikipedia)

We have all been in this situation and some are faced with this daily. Please explain & state if this also prevented you from seeking God where you have judged Him because of the actions of man.

If there is nothing to believe in, why bother? Is it out of some noble notion of philanthropy, then why are the arguments so contemptuous and derisive?

Here is something that has always got to me...if God created everything, is the alpha and the omega, is infallible and all that good stuff, how did he not know that when he created Lucifer that Lucifer would rebel and thus become the devil? To say that the devil was a master of deception and tricked God would prove that God is not infallible and all mighty (since he could be deceived by something he created). I mean, God knows all, past, present, future..so all the evils on this earth, the thought of a devil, etc are all part of his "plan" right?

Also, God is supposed to know everything, so did he not know (and plan) for Lucifer to fall from grace and become the devil? So in a way, it was God's plan to bring evil upon this world...he knew before he even created him what was to become of satan and his deeds upon this earth and human kind...

You say your beliefs are not a religion. You say you are not a cult. Why do you participate in a forum like Religion and Spirituality? It makes me think you must be looking for something or you wouldn't be here. Certainly you know you are no more likely to convert someone who is religious than they are to convert you. What drives your participation?

Please: I don't want to get answers that he DOES care from people who are saying this because they have been raised to think he cares about you. I want intelligent answers, if any exist. I myself am agnostic, so this is somewhat a hypothetical question.

Say God DID create the world. Why would he watch over us? Why would we care? I mean, a parent will abandon his/her own child - God has BILLIONS of us. Really, we're no more than ants to him. Even if he DOES exist and he CAN hear us, why would he listen?

After all, they don't seem to get much fun out of life, except for thinking up witty put-downs for religions. Perhaps I should invite them out to a moon dance at the summer solstice, introduce them to some priestesses of Venus, that sort of thing.

I want to ask what others think of this. Ok, we all know that it isn't the baby's fault, but we also know the mother shouldn't have to suffer for what was done to her in the case of rape and such. Shouldn't our government be working on some sort of robot uterus that can hold an unborn baby to term? They can make hearts, why not a uterus? They can create a way of transferring nutrients and whatever the baby needed to grow, couldn't they? Would your religion be against this, if it meant saving unwanted babies lives?
