I realize as a Christian we live in a fallen world and when sin entered the world so did death. So many people around me and those back east are going through horrific times, my dear brother in the Lord had a lung tranplant and it has been touch and go as he was in a small rejection.

The church I left back east to move out west are poor and are always going through so time time our trial. I remember a young brother in the Lord said it was good for me that I struggled as a youth otherwise I would have been a spoiled little rich girl and you know what? He is 100% right.

Given all that I said what advise or counsel would you give to someone who is hurting? What can I say or do to encourage them and edify or build them up?

I have been blessed no I dont have a lot of material things there is more to life than what a person owns Luke 12:15
but I have a loving husband, family and support group. What are wonderful ways and godly ways to bless others who are going through a hard time?

why weren't all humans on earth at that time his "special, chosen people?"

Whatever you want to call it, special, chosen, elected, whatever, let's keep semantics out: Israel was the sole place where god revealed himself to mankind for all human history (4000 years according to the bible) until Christianity was spread by the Roman Empire.

why were they just floundering around with false religions in which, for all they could figure, the sun was god? Or the Moon? or that each one of those kinds of things were gods?

In the bible, many times it talks about how god gave jews victory in battle, slaying their territorial neighbors. Because all those people were all sinfull and deserved it? Hard to believe. But then again, every single citizen in the two CITIES of sodom and gommorah was so evil that they deserved death, so maybe it IS possible. lol

I'm a christian. And I've been seeing this guy for a few months now but he is not a christian. I have very strong feeling for this guy and he is the nicest guy i've ever met. But I don't want to get any more serious than I already am because I think it's going to lead heartbreak because I already can never be apart from him and I know I can't marry someone who's not a christian... I feel like maybe I could change his mind but he's deep into his religion. Any opinions that could help would be grately appreciated.

I'm sure you've heard this before, but maybe I can make it sink in.

So let me try to understand this; God. The omnipotent omniscient, omnipresent deity; who can create humans out of dust, create a place of eternal suffering for those that don't believe, could create the world, heaven, and have a perfect plan for everybody... can't beat iron chariots.

Ok Christians, explain this one please?

It seems like a silly concept to me. I wish I had the hope alot of other people have but unfortunatly I don't.
I have a friend who was in a car accident and he was clinicly dead for 4 minutes and then he came back. He was a very religious man. After that experience he was absoulutly certain that there is no life after death. He said there was nothing there. He never went back to the church.
What about that. How can I believe with that.
On the other hand a friend went to a medium and another friend that had recently passed away came through and the same old story of 'the medium knew things she should have'. Maybe there is life after death. Give me your views

Okay in the book of Genesis it talks about the creation and all. The story I'm talking about in particular is the one about the tree of knowledge. Basically in the garden of Eden there was the tree of knowledge and God forbade adam and eve from eating of it but they did anyway. thus they were cast out of eden. So my question is could knowledge be considered a sin. After all it was a sin for adam and eve to eat from the tree of knowledge which gave them knowledge when they did. I do know that it was a sin for them to disobey God's command but why would God deny them knowledge in the first place if it were not a sin to possess it? thus it seems that knowledge could very well be considered sinful when looked at from this perspective. Thoughts...

(Yes I am going based on what the bible says so don't go into all that "the bible is false" stuff or "it's just stories". A lot of people take these stories seriously and This is purely a philisophical and hypothetical question.)

And STILL takes it, even unto this day. But who is mighty that he can defeat God Almighty?
It is amazing, but it 's no surprise. For the God of Abraham, Jacob, and Issac; He is our God.
Evil men have through the ages, tried in vain to destroy God's message to the world. They continue to this very moment.
But Christ has been been preached for 2000 years. The OT/NT has been preserved through the ages.
The very NAME Jesus, when spoken, brings joy to soul of many while at the SAME TIME causes others to go into fits of rage and rebellion. Those that love and obey Him life everlasting; those that reject Him eternal condemnation.

I was a good kid growing up good average to above average grades, was very spritutal and at 16 I was vistited with mental illness. I could not hold a job until my 20s because I did not have the stamina and strength, But God has repayed me for the years the locuts have eaten.

My teen years were hard and although I had friends they all walked out of my life when I became a Christian.

I am now in my late 30s and things are better than ever, my hearts desire is to bless others the way God has blessed me what would be a good way to do this?

Did you have a hard life growing up and then as you got older things got better? Did this help you become stronger?

I saw an advertisement the other day about an "irreverent comedy", and wondered is there anything left that is in such high esteem as not to be mocked and ridiculed?....Is there yet some virgin territory or bastion of innocence that hasn't been exploited in today's culture?....Any thoughts?
