Religious people won't like me for this...but God has an evil side...the choices that mankind made brought it out. He forbade Adam and Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge of good AND evil. Despite His command, they CHOSE to eat from it. He goes on to say after this, that their act had made them 'like' Him. God HAS an evil side. Period. It ALL belongs to Him. He is greater than any box man 'tries' to put Him in. Sorry...He don't fit.

As for the innocent babies and any of it for that matter, I agree that it was horrifying...now, think about that...it was for mankind's own horror to wake the he** up! He wanted the people to know that He was THE Boss!

Judges 21 - this was not something God commanded the men to do
Jdg 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel. Every man did the right in his own eyes.
And it doesn't say they raped them, just that they took them as wives.
Hos 13:16 Samaria shall become a waste, for she has rebelled against her God. They shall fall by the sword. Their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women shall be ripped up. and
Psa 137:8 O daughter of Babylon, O destroyed one! Blessed is he who will repay to you your reward which you rewarded to us.
Psa 137:9 Blessed is he who seizes and dashes your little ones against the stones.

We are talking about people that REBELLED against God, therefore He sought their destruction. Perhaps God didn't want the children to grow up to be rebellious like their parents, so He had whole communities destroyed down the the last child. He destroyed the entire towns of Sodom and Gommorah for their sins, and I'm sure there was at least a few children there too. Your sense of injustice is odd. You live your comfy, cushy existence and think you are so "enlightened" Mankind hasn't changed at all in his heart, only our technology has changed. We are sinful, violent people and this kind of stuff goes on still, you just don't hear about it as often.

ADVERTISED IGNORANCE.
Why don't you read it and find out the real story about it?
Benjamin's MEN were destroyed in a Israel CIVIL WAR! (Judges chapters 20-21)
Hosea 13:16 is addressed to Ephraimites, in the north of Israel, who, in your passage, are prophesied to be slaughtered. They were, by the ASSYRIANS!
Psalms 137:9 is a prophesy against Babylon, which had taken Israel into Captivity in Babylon, which was thereafter destroyed by the MEDES AND PERSIANS.
I don't know how less wise you can appear saying these things without knowing anything about them.

Please before you start saying what God did or didn't do Know the reasons. Some things aren't meant for us to understand. But in these verses, as in all others, God was just in His judgement against the sins and actions of the people. It's a shame innocent people have to suffer but that's what sin does, it "destroys." You can't just pick a verse and not know the story behind it. God is good and His ways are Truth and Mercy.

I am not fit to judge God...and neither are you. I trust that He does what he deems is necessary to do.

The old testament "God" was never fair or righteous. Mostly because he was a myth.
