Because wayyyy back, some lazy penguin decided to waddle instead, just for kicks and decided "Hey, this is really quite the thing", lets get everyone else to do it too. So, he convinced all the other penguin that flying was for the birds, and they agreed and everyone started waddling,...
and that's it. Penguins don't fly.

Maybe, they can but only when no one is looking.
Evolution: they need some more time to get the wings longer?
How would they pay for a ticket, they have no pockets! (to carry money in)
Actually I sat next to a Penguin coming back from Chicago just last week.

Cause they're penguins. they are like fish that almost evolved into birds but changed their minds. Something they "said"? No they can't talk any more than they can fly. What's the point of this dip-sh*t question? Why did I even pause to answer it?

Penguins cannot fly because their body weight is too much for their wings to handle. Their wings are not shaped appropriately for flight, nor are their feathers built for flight.
