There is no evidence to support a belief in any sort of life after death, and piles of evidence to suggest that there is no such thing.

having never died, I don't know. I live my life with the belief that each person's beliefs are true for that individual. Maybe your friend saw nothing, because deep down he expected nothing.
The existence or not of an afterlife does not preclude the possibility of spirits left behind, for whatever reason. Maybe the medium got hold of a spirit that was not in the 'afterlife', but rather a left-on-earth spirit.
I suppose when it comes down to it, none of us will really know until we have taken our last breath. And maybe not then. What if we have unfinished business, and our spirit is left on earth, but we think we are in the 'afterlife'

That's what happened to my mom's friend. She had cancered, and died for a few minutes. She said that she saw nothing.
Maybe it's because God knows he was going to die for a few minutes. Maybe because that IS the waiting room for the Final Judgement.
I believe there is another life after we die. But I don't believe in Hell, because the Bible even says Hell does not exist. Hell is just the grave. The cemetary. Hell isn't the place were you think we're gonna be tortured and tormented.
Jesus went to Hell; so did Lazarus. They went to the grave.

It's called faith. I know someone who nearly died, and when she came back she said that she saw a glimpse of Jesus! I believe that all believers will live in Heaven after they die. After all, God created this Earth, right? And our purpose for being here is to serve him, so as a reward we will spend our after-life with him in his kingdom. I think you should read the book of Revelation in the Bible. It may change your views about things. It talks about Heaven and it also talks about the Rapture, which is when God will take all believers, dead or alive, to his Kingdom and the nonbelievers will be tortured on the Earth. But first, make sure you know about Jesus giving his life for us. Talk to your parents or a local pastor to help you understand the concept of life with God after death.

Do not be mislead,YOur soul which is eternal with a new body will enjoy life after death. No one can experience that with that unpure flesh, you will be transform in order to go to heaven and live with Christ. people in comma for 2yrs and then come back to life again does not experience eternal life, they are still on earth. NO ONE CAN EXPERIENCE ETERNAL LIFE unless he is tranform in a new body that Christ will give. This will happen when Christ return, those who were dead 1000 of years before willl be resurected and enter that new body. this is in the bible, I forgot the passage.

You are a spirit and look just like your body.
You fit into your body like a hand in a glove.
You (a spirit) have fingers, hair, ears etc.
You (a spirit) are invisible inside of your body.
You will live a long time AFTER you come outta your body for Good (what we call Death).

When you can leave your body at will or during your sleep, you know that you are a spirit having a physical experience on this planet.
