You know for a fact that the majority of you are religious because that is what you were brought up with, if you were born in another country you would be muslim for example-you know this!
You know for a fact that you cannot all be right.
You know for a fact that man has worshipped hundreds of god throughout the ages, why is yours so special?
You know for a fact that prayer doesn't work and that you simply select something good that occured then attribute that to a prayer conveniently forgetting the other 1000 prayers not answered!
You know for a fact that 2000 years ago the 'list' of things that 'god must have done' has got narrower and narrower over time due to science, reason and knowledge.
Why not answer my question instead of running away? Don't say 'you will never uinderstand god' as that is not satisfactory. No bible quotes either. I would like you to agree or refute my points one by one and explain why?

Sorry? There is not one shred of evidence for there being a god!

How about Thailand, majority muslim or Buddhist? that is because of parental upbringing, how on earth can you deny this?

Yes, religion has been invented by man just to cover up his insecurities and expell the fear of death. The majority of human beings have never tried to overcome these weaknesses and believe only in their own powers, just because it's very convenient to them to put their fate in someone else's hands, which is an imaginary power above themselves.
Human beings are also flattered to believe that they are different from the rest of the animals, just because they are (?) the image of the god they created for this reason too.
What do believers, who justify their god's good will and decisions, answer to the question "why violence, injustice, abuse, rule in the perfect world" that their (imaginary) superpower is suposed to have created and rule upon?

P.S. Dear believers, don't bother critisize me, I don't care (of course you have the right to get your tickets to paradise...)

First of all,I want to say that I am not trying to persuade you about anything,I will just answer your questions:
1) I agree that everyone believes to the God that the society in which he is born has taught him to believe. But that doesn't mean that there is not a God.I believe that the God is unique, that we all believe to the same God but every religion understand that God in a different way.Every religion tries to reach that God in a different way.If you call Him God or Allah ,that is not changing that it is the same thing.
2) Of course, people are not right. There is not a perfect man or woman. We all make mistakes a lot of times. We have just to try to be a better. Why that means that there is not a God?
3) Everyone is free (at least in the christian countries) to choose his religion.Everyone ,of course ,is taught to believe one specific religion but when someone is grown up if he really cares about this matter,he can choose what he believes that it is the most appropriate for him.Of course he can choose not to believe. It is ok.I am a Christian Orthodox because I feel that it is closer to the truth.A lot of people disagree with this.It is ok,I can accept their opinion.
4) Prayers work. I can say it because of my experience. When ever I asked something from God with pure heart,He has given it to me.It also depends on what you ask from God.If you ask a new car,as you can understand,it is a little bit difficult your prayer to work!
5) Science is not opposite with religion. You can see if you want a documentary film of S.Hawkins that talks about the Big Bang and the creation of the universe and you will understand what I am talking about. The science finds out little by little what all the religions say thousands years now.But the religion talk in a way that people of 3000 years ago could understand some things without any knowledge of physics or mathematics.I like astronomy,I am an amateur astronomer and believe me it is not opposite whatever has been said with what we find out.The mistake has been done from some people that were saying that the Earth was the center of Universe etc.But those were people's opinions.

What I want to say is that we live in the time that there is a lot of confusion.I really can not persuade you that there is a God as you can not persuade me that there is not a God.There is not a way to do the one or the other. You have to ask yourself if you want to believe or not.
And something last: How can you be so sure for those things that you write above and you start with the expression:"You know for a fact...".
The word "fact" is not so easy nowdays.Especially as it concerns those matters.(Just think:if there is a God and devil, what would it happen, what the devil would try to make us believe?)

Open your mind and you will find all the answers inside you and if the answer in you is to reject everything it is ok.But why do you try to persuade the others?Maybe you are not so sure, that is why!Good luck!

You've spent a lot of time coming up with these questions. I would challenge you to spend just as much time answering them for yourself. You are correct that all of the religions can't be right, but that doesn't mean that none of them are. You have to find out for yourself and you can begin the process by praying to our Father in Heaven. When you pray sincerely, in the name of Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost will manifest the truthfullness of things to you. Our prayers of a spiritual nature will be answered. I would suggest praying about one thing at a time and then listen for the answer to that prayer. As you pray, you will become more in tune with the Holy Ghost and you will be better at discerning when a prayer has been answered. I believe that when your prayers are of a spiritual nature, your questions will be answered very quickly if you are sincere.

Satan and his hosts will try their best to deceive you, but if you are sincere, you will know without question when your prayers have been answered. We have been promised that if we do the things we know our Father in Heaven would have us do, he is bound to keep his promise. If we do not do the things we know our Father in Heaven would have as do, we have no promise. Don't let yourself get frustrated. Do those things you know you should do. Don't let anything stand in the way between you and truth.

Question everything. Study everything. Rely on prayer.

I know for a fact that every so called "fact" you put in your question is either unsubstantiated or false.
The archeological record which proves events of the Bible is expanding and scientific research is not disproving the claims of the Bible, it is eliminating the possibility of the Bible not being true.
Science, reason, and knowledge mean nothing if not coupled with common sense. The Bible says (paraphrased) that God instills a knowledge of the Creator in all people. Sounds like you are bitter and in denial. Prayer works, God is real, and you are desperately in need of Him.

1. Your understanding that God was invented is false. Why do you pretend it is true? God was revealed to man as man's need progressed through history. The amount of evidence grew as his understanding grew. Only by discounting the spiritual nature of man can you even hope of using physical evidence to support your stance.
2. I was the first in my family to become Christian at the age of 12. I had to beg my mother to take me to church on Sundays. Shortly after I became a Christian they followed. You know diddly-squat about my living conditions, let alone those of others. The profusion of religions and denominations in a free country make it more likely that any one would be embraced, by your own logic, including atheism. Before I believed I was like you, an atheist, but came to my senses at a much younger age.
3. Maybe all are not right. That is why I strive to believe truth instead of blocking it all out. God forbid that I should ever stop questioning and blindly accept what others teach.
4. Hundreds of gods being worshipped throughout human history only lends evidence of your own ignorance or denial. The odds are heavily in favor of one of them being right. The fact that the vast majority of people who have ever lived earnestly believed in a god of some sort places you in a most unappealing light.
5. I know for a fact prayer does work, for I know how to couch my prayers in His name and do not ask for superfluous fluff. God has given me much aid and comfort that could not be obtained elsewhere.
6. I can not account for the last 2000 years, but I know that in my own 57 years I have personally observed God's hand at work in my own life, and that is good enough for me. Science, reasoning, and knowledge give me great delight, for by employing these things I observe God's creation in greater detail.
Jesus died on the cross to save you from your sins and to bring you into fellowship with God. Will you now run away?

Edit:
1. My faith is based upon evidence, not speculation. You are totally disregarding spiritual evidence in your search so you search in the wrong places.
2. You postulate the error of religions believing in a god, not the correctness of any specific religion. By your own admission the vast majority of people alive today actually do have a belief in some god. You simply twist an argument.
Continuing to explain explanations is tiresome when the one doing the listening uses circular reasoning with a closed heart intent upon maintainimg a (at best) slightly tenable position.
You are not yet receptive to truth, so I will desist here. Continuing to feed into your sort of logic only serves to push you deeper into it. Back up and observe a simpler perspective. "Be still, and know that I am God."

EXACTLY....
Religions have been born by the need of the human to believe in something ,and to find answers to questions about life and the birth of Universe..And they have always been against science, and the logical solutions that science gives.
So many wars for religion, which is just a belief..And all are the same, i mean the monotheistic.
Jweish, islamand christianism have the same rules, the same speech, saying that man comes from Adam and Eva, heaven, hell...And I respect it, it doesnt harm anything.
Religions teach people love, peace, but in reality nobody applies it..People just follow the rules but forget the meaning of love..They follow the rules but in their private life they dont respect, just those who believe deep inside them apply them in reality.
But i have always respected the belief of everyone, since he doesnt harm people..
The fact that i dont believe doesnt mean that i hate religions...The opposite, they always give a right line and way to the human being if their rules are respected and well applied...
Notice...i believe in an upper power...wahtever it is, but deep inside me i havent given the definition yet...it can be also nature for me...

You asked all these questions and yet you consider yourself a Christian? When you say..."Christians, we all know..." that is admitting you are one of us.

You are right: that most of us are religious because it was how we were brought up by our parents, Muslims and Christians alike. But as we grow up, our ideas and perceptions of religion change. But no matter what these are, we always believe that there is God, an intelligent being, who made all the things that we see around us. Though we cannot see God in person, it is our faith that make us believe in His existence.

We are only human, we commit mistakes; we are not perfect. But God has given us the 10 commandments to guide us in our life. It is up to us to either follow these guidelines or make our own rules. God does not expect us all to be right. If so, we will be like Him then.

You are absolutely right. People have worshipped so many gods in the past, it is called idolatry. They knew it was wrong to worship idols or icons made out of wood or gold, but still, they defy the command of God. I don't worship gods of men made from wood or metal. I pray directly to my God, not coursed through another human being. I don't claim my God is special or anything but for me He is truly very special.

You think prayer does not work. We have different views on prayers. I believe God answers ALL prayers, each in its own time and degree of necessity. He knows what your needs are before you even ask for it. When you think He did not give you what you asked for, it must be for a reason only He knows. But probably it is because what you asked for was not for you, that it would not be good for you.

Most scientists don't believe in the existence of a power much greater than the most intelligent man on earth. Most of them are atheists. They strive to explain everything that is through scientific explanations and true, they were able to do that. But could they explain how the universe came into being? How man came into existence? I don't believe scientists can explain everything. I hope you believe in Satan, the devil. Because he is as real as God is. He is the one sowing confusion and turmoil; tempting and encouraging man to defy God and His laws.

I did not run. I walked and answered your questions squarely.

Update your references. More and more scientists are coming to believe in an Intelligent Creator, and the deeper we dig into archaeological sites, the more the findings support biblical writings. You will only be pretending until you breath your last or the Lord comes, whichever occurs first. Then your knee shall bow and your mouth will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Your choice of your eternal home is made here, in this temporary body we are clothed in for this present time.

This is a great question. I have asked myself every single question on your list. I am an extremely skeptical person by nature.
But one day, it just all didn't seem to matter too much. All of the why's and why nots were replaced with Thank you's. I know this is probably a supremely annoying answer, but I couldn't resist. It just all sounded so very familiar.

1) We don't pretend. Religions are man's ways to reach God or enlightenment... Christianity is about God reaching out to mankind.
2)False premise. Christianity can be found just about everywhere. Culture does has a bearing, but truth wins.
3)We are not, but God is.
4)God is alive and real.
5)It does, with blessings that overflow.
6)Actually, it seems to grow... science has always been man's attempts to explain and understand the things of God.
7)Who's running??

Imagine... not one Bible quote!
On second thought....

1 Corinthians 2:14
But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

Ephesians 3:14-19
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Amen. (So be it)
It is a prayer that many Christians on here have in their hearts for those who do not know God.

Why can their only be one right answer? I have my washer in my kitchen, my best friend has it in her basement, is one of us doing laundry wrong, because there can only be one right answer. As for prayer, I am religious, but I pray for nothing. If I need something, I work for it. If I'm sick I go for natural cures, or I see a doctor. And my gods and goddesses are no more special than anyone elses...that's just the way it is.
