looked down upon by many "Christians" for doing the same thing Jesus did. Does anyone understand why? It doesn't make sense to me.

The things I am talking about are so many, that i can only give you a sampling. I have friends who do not believe in God, friends who are gay, ffriends who belong to churches that many "Christians" have decided are not Christian. For example one of my Mormon friends who is home schooling, was not allowed to join a Christian organization for home-schoolers, even though she has a very strong belief in Jesus. Another example is the preschool where my son attended was selling their church to move to a larger church. They refused to sell it to other believers in Jesus who they judged were not Christians. Isn't the church the people who gather not the building, so why did they fear this group so much that they didn't want them to worship in their old building? (I took my son out of the preschool because I didn't want him to pick up their "values"
Why can't we all just LOVE EVERYBODY.

(sorry about the triple comment. I have a mild tremor that often causes me to double letters. I guess that is what caused the 3 comments)

Because those people don't like to be reminded that they aren't really following Christ's teachings of love and acceptance. Continue to live your life, teaching by example the true values of Christianity.
As a side note, I'm not christian, but your interpretation of the teachings gives me hope for this world, hope that is sorely needed in this day an age.

Sorry hon, Christianity's full of contradictions, which leads to multitudes of hypocrites. It's wise to follow the teachings of Jesus before any teachings of any religions, but many people pick religion before the Lord because religion is just so simple. Keep on the good path and know that, even if other criticize you, Jesus loves you for how you act if you follow His way.

Honey, not everyone who calls himself a Christian is really trying to model himself or herself on the "What Would Jesus Do" principle. You are right that Jesus reportedly hung out with "publicans and sinners," and seems to have been generally a pretty tolerant guy.
But he did admonish them to repent their sins and follow him. To do this, you need to believe that what he says is sin, something to repent, really is a sin. In fact, even before that you have to believe in the whole concept of sin, accepting his definition of sin.
The only Christians I have been able to get along well with are those that realize the best way to teach is by example. Being a good person, compassionate and kind, and letting that speak for you.
I once had an orthodox priest for a friend, and when I needed help, I leaned on him pretty heavily. I asked him once, "At what point does accepting your help obligate me to convert to your religion?" He answered very simply, "Never."

When Jesus befriended the people , they didnt remain in their sins. They turned from them and followed Jesus.
As for the Morman thing, Mormanisum is a cult. They do not believe you are accepted into heaven through Jesus. You should examin the mormans a little closer. If a church tells you it is ok to remain the sinner you were when you walked through the door, then what good is the church? They would be sending you directly to Hell. Church is supposed to say , there is a way God created the Earth and all things in it. All things should do as they were created. Im not perfect either, I drink sometimes Etc. but I know that some things I do are wrong, not to kid myself and say , its ok , I was born this way, YOur not!! We are all born in to a sinful world and people around you help you develope into a person you are today, I thankfully have been in church since before I was even born. I have been around alot of great good people, and has helped me figure out what is right or wrong. The world IS Black and White , there is noo gray area.. God doesnt want anyone to go to hell.. So how do you get there? YOu have to be pure, in order to do so God sent down Jesus to die for us, And all we have to do ,is admit Jesus died for us and try to live as close as possible to how Jesus taught us. I pray every night I am a better person and can become a better father and person.
I hope I didnt sound like a religeous freak, Im not really. I party some times and do things I shouldnt, but I hope to turn out like my dad , who was once just like me. He turned out to be one great man. As I tell my daughter,,,, Hate the sin not the sinner.!! Help the sinner, dont condone the sin.
Take care!!
Christopher
As far as Gay friends and such, you can be friends with them , but your not supposed to say , Its ok to be that way, you dont need to change . I have friends that dont even go to church, But , I do talk about God to them everytime I see them , Perhaps one day they will be led to salvation through me.

I feel ya. I'm in the same boat. Most 'Christians" i've met are hypocrites. They talk the talk but don't walk the walk, and are quick to shoot down anyone who trys to speak up about injustices done in and out of the church by Christians. If you know in your heart that what you are doing is right, and you have the Bibles' word to back you up, i say keep on trooping. And don't let those sour apples get you down. For God sees all you do, and you will be rewarded in full. Smile :)

If you mean by displaying the love of Christ to all then those who are "religious" will certainly frown upon you. Religion has no room for grace, love or mercy. It only has room for pride, prejudice and the rules.
I wish you were a bit more specific here.
Anyway, the church at large ( not all ) is out of touch with most people's needs. Christ loved people where they were at and ministered to their needs. But He didn't leave them in that condition. They went away being changed.

What you are Hun is a Christ - like Christian. You are to be treasured because there are not many like you. I gave up the fight in the end because I just couldn't cut through the dogma and silliness. I was told I wasn't a true Christian and that my ideas were 'not bilical'. Acceptance of all people whoever and whatever they are is the way of Christ. Bless you.

Keep on doing that as long as you feel proper.
You are here not just to take but to to give also. Give as much as you can. Jesus is not one and only one example, there are alot of examples. You may be one of them.Who knows?
If you think you can do, then don't waste the time being weired. Life is short. People in need are hoping for your kindness. It all depends on you.

When Jesus walked the earth, do you think He cared what man thought of Him? Did he submit to any man in the churches? NO! He is the son of God and came to do as His Father commanded. Did He also not say that man (whether christians or not) will hate you only because they hated Him first?
Why do you worry? Complete your mission that God has set for you, that is the only thing that matters.
This is between you and God, no one else.
God bless.

i wish i had a simple answer. it has to do with political climate, greed and the need for idiots to walk on others to make themselves feel better. i've seen people actually have their hope in the destruction of others. when it didn't manifest i've seen the same people mentally down as if they had been served a blow because someone succeeded in life... i try to surround my self with others that don't carry this self righteousness regardless. if heaven is full of that i'll go straight to hell!
