I don't think that there are enough Mormons for them to get their guy in the White House. I know that Romney doesn't have a chance because of his far right beliefs. He would let his extremist morals run his decision making. He hasn't been a Senator for long so we can't use his Senate record as a defense. He probably would try to get Roe vs. Wade overturned.

Like most Americans I wouldn't vote for a Mormon in the White House on principle but I see nothing wrong with him serving his country as a Senator. There are plenty of extremist Senators (ie. Byrd). But what do you think? Would Mitt Romney have to change his religion to win the election?

Charles Darwin, the man who wrote "The Origin of Species" and "The Descent of Man" was in fact a Christian. In fact it was his belief in God that lead to his understanding of evolution. On a trip to the Galápagos Islands he noticed that on each different island there were species of birds that were almost identical except for the fact that their beaks were different sizes. He realised that there beaks were suited to their diets. Because of his belief in God he reasoned it must be an adaption rather than God having designed them specifically like that as it would mean God was incredibly lazy and not at all creative, as he thought God was fantastic.

Does this information make evolution more acceptable to you Christians out there?

Not just beef but lamb etc...?
Q #2: What are your religions dietary laws?

Yes, the question belongs here, some ppl have religions that are very specific as to what can go in their bodies.

---------
By the way, I saw some new brand of beef on TV the other day. It is made in the panhandle of TX and is supposed to be certified 'grass fed' --I guess it is some new thing. Plus, meat is much more healthy when it comes from an animal that was fed grass. They said it was going to be sold in Tom Thumb...don't know how far out they will be distributing it if any one is interested.

does anyone think there will be peace when there is so much conflict that seems to be fueled by religous matters. religion is a good thing in many ways but do you think the good outweigh the bad if it means there might never be world peace.

I did something I shouldnt have. Something that I hadnt done for quite awhile. The temptation got me. Satan got me. Now I feel horrible. I guess it's a good thing though because that mean's I am truly sorry for what I have done and forgiveness is available. Because it was a private sin there is no need to specify just what it is I did but regardless I feel better by telling people. Please pray for me that I might get back on track and avoid sin whenever I'm tempted.

thank you.

This particularly seems to be the case with the evolution debate.

Atheists provide mountains of evidence, and the fundamentalists just go, "but I have my faith"............which includes using bible references, as belief in the bible can only be based on faith.

Why don't they realise that the burden of proof as to whether or not god exists really lies with them, and that faith does not satisfy the burden of proof?

I am Atheist but I know what Christianity is about (I was raised Catholic). I know what it means to be "Christ-like" so why do I see so many people misrepresenting their faith on Yahoo Answers R&S section?

Christians are taught to be understanding, compassionate, tolerant, forgiving, caring, etc. so why is it that I don't see much of that at all here?

Take a moment to think and reflect on how you represent your religion and answer this question: When you visit this forum, are you a positive representative of your faith, or are you setting a bad example for all who follow your beliefs?

I know that abortion is wrong. My question is about the early termenation of pregnancy. I have taken a lot of heat over the years because I terminated my pregnancy 3 months early. The doctors told me that it was the best chance of survival my twins had, and I do now have healthy normal 12 year olds who will turn 13 in July. A lot of people say I did not have enough faith and it was wrong, but I felt like God was leading the Doctor's in their decision and He was there to make sure my babies were safe.

My second part of the question is, do you ever worry that if we make strict abortion laws that women who are in a position like I was will lose the option to terminate early not to take a life but to save a life?

I love my twins, and I wanted them very badly. You wouldn't believe some of the nasty things people have said regarding their birth circumstances.

I am betting that we women spend more time in prayer and men in action as far as the daily life of our faiths. We call this in Christian families that the Husband is the head of the home and the Wife the heart of it. I find at daily Mass there are always more women. We do engage in Christian action too but I find men have a need for more action. What are your feelings about your faith?

Once I was in a foreign town I knew nothing about. I had just found out my girlfriend was cheating on me with a big time drug dealer. I confronted the two of them while they were high on PCP. I left and I walked this town for about three hours at 3 in the morning. At one point I sat on a curb side in front of a shopping center. I remember feeling angry, hurt and scared. I looked up at the moon and I saw something like a small cloud coming down towards me. As it got closer I realized it was a spirit of some kind. I don't do drugs so I wasn't high and I had not had one drink. I remember this spirit getting very close and I suddenly felt peace. I got up and started walking again. I had to walk threw a huge wooded park. As I was walking threw the dark park I heard footsteps behind me the whole time but I never saw anyone. Somehow I found my brothers best friends job. He brought me home and I prayed and rested. Do you believe this was Jesus protecting me from others as well as myself?

Yahoo says, ETYMOLOGY:
Latin intelligns , intelligent- present participle of intellegere, intelligere, to perceive : inter-, inter- + legere, to choose; see leg- in Indo-European roots

That's what this is really all about, right? Is it more intelligent to base our lives on that which is concrete and provable, or that which many find strength and comfort in (and COULD be true, there is no definitive evidence against it)?

If you believe that God can do anything, can he build a mountain so high, that even he cant cross? If you can answer that, then you must be pretty smart. and also, is there an end of the universe, and if so, whats there? Im just kidding. I am a firm believer in the christian faith, and i know that some things in this world are for God to know, and for us to find out. but seriously think about these question, you'll drive yourself nuts!!!!!

I'm curious about the book The Bible Diet (I think that is what it is called). Could anybody give me some kind of quick overview? What does it consist of? Is it based on the Old and New testament? Does it allow (New T.) or forbid (Old T.) pork?

By the way, I am Muslim, quite happy with my path, and am asking a sincere question to obtain knowledge. No bashing!!!!

Suppose God appeared to you, and sayeth---

You will choose between two alternatives:
(1) The world will stay as it is,
or
(2) I will take all the truly religious people in the world, all who truly believe in a supernatural creator, and I will wisk them away to an afterlife compatible with their beliefs: believing Christians will go to Christian heaven, Jihadists will go to Jihadist heaven, Dhoists will go to Dhoist heaven, etc.
The non-believers will stay behind, and just in case you're worried, I will also remove all possibly-existing supernatural beings from the universe, good or evil. The universe will operate on purely naturalistic terms, and when you're dead, you're dead, that's it.

Would you choose the second alternative, and would you stay behind?

I would. That's why the idea of the Rapture is so appealing, an atheist's fondest wish, aside from the nasty bits about the anti-christ that seem to be put in to make sure people are properly scared.

Here on Yahoo Q & A's, it seems that there is so much religion bashing. The Christians can't agree with each other, and they disagree with the Muslims and the Jews. The Muslims think that Christianity is wrong, and Judiasm, too. The Jews believe they are right..
Why is there little tolerance here for others beliefs?
So...what's the answer to all this? Who is right? We can't all be the same, can we?
I am not disagreeing with any of them, I have my own beliefs, but I would like to know what you think of the "bickering" here, about the various differences.
Is it self righteous when we criticize others for their beliefs?
