I believe in God, but I'm not going to become a fanatic about it, like some people.

If you're talking about the wars against other religions, that's always been there. The Crusades were part of this. Even the Israelites were told (by God) to make war with the people in the Promised Land. Nowadays, the people that fight over who is right and who is wrong about religion, don't understand the actual religion. The Muslims that committed the suicide bombing into the World Trade Center and the Oklahoma Bombing, those people do not actually understand the Muslim religion at all. That's not what the Muslim religion teaches. You don't kill yourself in the name of Allah just like you don't kill yourself in the name of God.

Religion is what is keeping our world together, in truth. Our President is a religious man and we haven't heard stories of him sleeping around (like with Clinton) or making deals with communist leaders (like Carter).

We're "obsessed" because it's what God wants us to do. I'm a religious person and I will stand up for my beliefs. I think that only reason why you say it's bad is because you don't understand that the "religious" people that make it bad, aren't religious at all.

It´s wrong to think religion is damaging the world. What is causing damages is the manipulation, the selfish use of the religion that some people do. Religion it´s not the main aim, it´s just a way to serve the needy.

I believe we can say people are damaging the world since all people have a religion. Even an atheist worships man and what man can do.

Most people that are obsessed with religion are fanatical. They truly do not understand what is being interpreted and like blind bats follow because another says and dos, without first trying to understand what, where and why?

I'm not obsessed with it...but it is my way of life....I don't believe it is damaging the world...The people in this world are doing that themselves, look at the crime rate everywhere... Maybe if more people put some faith in their life the world wouldn't be such a mess...
Just my thoughts...you don't have to agree with them....

Its not neccessarily religion that is making the world worse.

It is individuals who bastardize thier religion and use it to push thier own personnal agenda.

Blaming a whole group is wrong, there are just as many athiests out there making the world a mess as there are religious people.

To find a reason for being. To try and understand life. To look pass the physical world. To become a better person. However most of the time this isn't what happens. They become self-centered, extremist and racist.

The word religion literally translates into "re-connect." It is an attempt to reestablish a severed relationship with the source of life (God), and with each other. Faith it not the problem - the problem is each of our innate desire/drive to be right/superior/wiser/better than others. We could just as easily speak about nationality, heritage, or race - none of which are evil, just our perception to use them as tools to view ourselves as better than others.
Look beyond the "hardliners" and you will see those who truly seek that "reconnection" in love, hope, and charity.
