Here on Yahoo Q & A's, it seems that there is so much religion bashing. The Christians can't agree with each other, and they disagree with the Muslims and the Jews. The Muslims think that Christianity is wrong, and Judiasm, too. The Jews believe they are right..
Why is there little tolerance here for others beliefs?
So...what's the answer to all this? Who is right? We can't all be the same, can we?
I am not disagreeing with any of them, I have my own beliefs, but I would like to know what you think of the "bickering" here, about the various differences.
Is it self righteous when we criticize others for their beliefs?

"American Beauty"...why would you assume ( falsly) that I haven't studied the Bible??? I have and still do. Have you? If you have, then you'd know that we shouldn't judge others. We are all in a learning process....lighten up!

"Phoenix Shade slayer" You might be right! There is alot of sharing here, too. Good point! I usually do focus on the positive side of R & S, but...it is the not so nice comments I've seen also, that I am addressing with this question. I understand that people have differing opinions and beliefs here....fine...but giving a good answer, not judgemental, seems better to me, as for promoting peace between people. Most of us are here to learn, and I am very open to that.

"Forever set'...I think that focusing on the positive side of R & S is great, and there is a wonderful exchange between people, most of the time. You are right!
Realistically tho, I have seen much disagreement, many emails coming from others who want desperatley to prove their point when someone disagrees with them, etc...It is that attitude that I am addressing with this question,...because I see that, as well as the great side of learning and knowledge that comes from this forum.
i still love yahoo R & S!

"Midge" you got it! That's the point!!!
Why can't we disagree with a good attitude???

I believe that there is but one God...and quite frankly, it doesn't matter what anyone calls him...whether it be God, Allah or any other name. I do not practice or adhere to any particular religion or denomination but instead rely on a personal relationship with my Creator. He has shown me the truth that I am to follow but that does not mean that this is the only truth in my opinion. I agree that to condemn someone else for having a different viewpoint is not a good thing...but it is a natural thing...it is called pride.

Wow thats a good question...

Im a Christian, i chose to be a Christian.
I looked at the world a few years ago, and i was dissappointed... So much hatred, violence, uncaring! I saw a different way to live my life... in helping others. Im not saying you have to be a Christian (or any other faith) to be kind and helpful, but as a group of people united for a cause of good you can achieve so much more than by yourself.

I think you'll find that the people want to force you to believe what they believe, with the attitude of your wrong and im superior... have either misinterperated their teachings or are not Christians/Muslims/Jewish and are not backed by the true followers of the Christians/Muslims/Jewish.

Love to you all!!!!!!

I bicker too. I'm agnostic (used to be Christian). I don't care what other people believe but I can't stand religious people witnessing or telling other people what to do with their lives (in regards to things like being gay or yelling at people for being pro-choice, etc.)so I stand up for the atheists and agnostics. I have a live and let live attitude.

If people wouldn't bother me, I would say, go, practice your religion in peace, that's cool. But they don't leave me alone!!! Just yesterday I had another Jehovah's Witness come to my house and I couldn't get them to go away for anything. I don't like shutting doors in people's faces or being rude but sometimes I have no choice.

People will always argue.. there really isn't an answer. Perhaps one day the world's religions will agree to disagree but I'm sure there's a very slim chance of that happening.

1. Ask and you shall find;
2. Believe it= be & live it.
3. All is One or one God implies Unity of All;
4. My(our)God and their god implies more than one God;
5. It is possible that more than one way leads in a right direction=is right.
6. It is possible that more one teacher has a right knowledge suitable for a right student; not all students want or need the same knowledge at the same level.
When the student is ready, a right teacher arrives--and the good teachers are willing to respect our gift of free will and/or free choice;
7. One God and many paths, and many good knowledgeable teachers=no confusion.
Usually when a student feels confused the teacher is at fault! Change the teacher and be well!

I try to share what I have learned from my study of the Bible with others without bashing other persons religious beliefs or bickering about religion. (2Timothy 2:23) However, I do admit that I have at times been baited into religious debates by persons who challenge my beliefs. (1Peter3:15)

You notice the bickering and bashing going on about religious beliefs. There's is just as much about politics. There is a lot of bashing each others countries.
I'm not sure that it's all bad. It gets people thinking. If we all agreed to everything we hear, we'd just be a bunch of human sponges. Remember- - discussion is the exchange of knowledge. Argument is the exchange of ignorance.

JoJo....

Christians bickering with each other? Honestly, I don't see it.
But then, I try to put myself in their shoes, as well as everyone else....for if I myself haven't "been there" (usually have) there are people close to me whom HAVE.

Every Christian is in a different stage of their Faith, and, depending on their particular churches views, are stating what they only know "now".

As for all other folk, they are of so many different ages, that, to tell the truth, most times I put most of the truly abusive into an age category that well, they have a LOT to learn yet and are acting like the children they are.

Same for us all....we all are here to learn and share...

Peace be with you....like some have already stated...look at the GOOD here in R&S.....don't dwell on the bad....it's only keeping you from having peace. :)

Why do people focus almost exclusively on the negative "bashing" and ignore the positive sharing of knowledge, ideas, opinions, and info that happens on this site all the time? Is everyone really that pessimistic?

Let's all go back to each one's scriptures. The basic teaching is the unity of God. There is none worthy of worship except the creator God Almighty. Let's follow that and take Jesus, Moses & Muhammad (PBUT) as messengers of God. Why so much confusion in truth.

Yes it's self righteous. We should respect people despite their beliefs. This is the cause of the wars in the world and the deaths of millions of people.
