Christians, I am curious why you think (if you do) that dating is allowed?

Throughout history ppl did not date, it's a rather new thing...like in the last 200 years or so ... people used to have arranged marriages and there was courting too.

I am not saying have an arranged marriage but what about courting? Isn't that more appropriate because it is expressly for finding a spouse? Doesn't dating just bring too much bad with it, broken hearts, loss of innocence, cheating, possible pregnancy and stds...

I completely believe in getting to know the person you will marry but I don't think that dating is the way to go. It seems courting would be much better these days anyway because ppl are so busy and have a hard time meeting ppl (in general) anyway...

What are you thoughts on the matter?

non-christians can answer too if they wish

I'm just curious cause someone just told me that lust of any kind is a sin. Lust is sexual desire. I would HOPE you lust after your own spouse or else your relationship could be a dud.

I think they will since people have discovered then, as today that the have not thoughts whatever on the subject. The significance of Jesus is nothing, he had all of eternity to think about it so what is the big deal, get over it already

Why do most people rather believe in aliens' existence than God's existence? When someone presents to the public about aliens, it is most likely believed than when someone preaches about God and His love.

Hey guys- I'm supposed to have a scripture study done by tomorrow about prayer (basically a little outline of a lesson that would be good to do in a small group). I need to pick a topic (which has to have something to do with prayer), then write down like 2 or 3 or more main points that I want to talk about, then back them all up with verses.

This is the first time I've done this! Do any of you have ideas for what my narrowed-down topic could be, and what verses would go along good with it?

THANKS!

I've been in college in the early 80s in Quebec City, where I made friends Muslims, then moved to Montreal and in University there met and befriended other Muslims and so I can speak of personal experience when I tell you they are realy great people. They knew my beliefs and we respected each other, teaching (or learning) from the other's beliefs.

The regular, normal Muslim is a loving God fearing person, with respect for one another. We must stop thinking that all Muslims are all radical fanatics like those we hear about on the headline news. Those are not representative of a real Muslim at all. No more than if a Christian went into a temple of evil religion/belief with a dynamite belt and blew himself up, would that Christian represent all Christians.

And if all people who believed in what ever they believed were as honnest and thorough as some Muslims I met (with respect for others) religion wouldn't be a scary place for many who fear it.

By thankfulness and gratefulness at the sacrifice made for you? I am sometimes just totally overcome, sometimes when I'm praying but other times it just pops into my mind. Someone (Jesus) died for me! Is it as hard for other Christians to get thier minds around? Do you sometimes drop to your knees and just say "Thank you Lord" over and over and you know that's not enough but that's all you can come up with?

I have warned my sons teacher not to mention god or any other pagans in front of my child and many other parents have requested the same.

I have decided to sue the schyool and the teacher since this is a public school and therefore their so called jesus's, peter pan, etc... have no place in the school system as it could corrupt our children and ITS ILLEGAL

What is the proper amount to sue for? I will not keep the money , I will donate it to the red cross or a charity organization.

The school promised to fire this christian extremist teacher and has yet to do so. I have a feeling they think I am bluffing. What they dont know is my attorney is being unleashed on them tomorrow .

Why cant most christians just follow the law? Not all christians are bad. I dont criticize them for believing whatever fiction they want to believe but keep that garbage away from my SON!!

is her earthly hapinnes with a man that can sexually satisfy her more important than my eternal salvation????

How come so many questions in here are so slanted. I mean, these "questions" start with words like:

"Did you know that theists are stupid because...."

I mean, give me a break. If you are not looking for answers, but instead are merely looking for people to agree with you -- then I would recommend that you spend your time on this Yahoo website instead:

They range from 13-17. My thinking is that they should just keep their focus on Jesus and not worry about dating or marriage until they know to some extent, God's plan for their life, so that they don't waste their time and get hurt by a boy/man who either doesn't care about them, or just isn't ready for a relationship like that. There is one guy in the youth group. He is 17 also. I talked this week about how we're all, who believe, brothers and sisters in Christ and that they should treat each other as such because they are young. They asked about relationships and now I have to teach a little more about that aspect and I'm not really sure how to do it. Your insights would be welcome as long as they're mature.

There is so much to be learned from each other but when entering discussions, most religious people create rifts right away because they concentrate on the differences instead of starting at, and returning to, the shared beliefs as their foundations. Forgiveness, for example, is common in almost every major religion.

Thoughts? Comments?

There seem to be a lot of atheists and a lot of Christians, some Muslims. So far I haven't heard from many other religions. Is anyone agnostic - believes in evolution and thinking most likely there is no God, but also thinking it is possible there is a God?
