There is no verses that support these statements. For you have been mislead. Jesus has already paid the price for all sin. There is nothing one needs to do except believe! Believe that He is the son of God, that He died on the cross for your sin and invite Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior. That is all one needs to do. Believing in God only will not get you into His kingdom. It is only through Jesus alone! Read:
Acts 10:43
Romans 6:6-7
2 Corinthians 5:17
Romans 6:1-2
Romans 6:11
Romans 6:14
Matthew 1:21
Acts 13:38
1 John 2:1-2
1 John 3:5
1 Peter 2:2-24
1 Timothy 1:15
John 1:29
Isaiah 53:5-6
Ephesians 1:7
Galatians 1:4
Hebrews 10:14

In the age of grace that we live today there is no verse that says we need to pay penance for our sins. In fact, there are many verses that tell us that the Lord Jesus Christ paid for our sins. He died for our sins, He was buried and took our sins and He rose again the third day for our justification. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Romans 4: 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Romans 3: 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Nothing like this is in the bible. You can't be forgiven sins by paying penance. Forgiveness comes through repentance to God and God alone.

No one can quote a Bible verse that does not exist.
Though it is true that salvation is a gift that none can earn, the only proof that someone has faith is through works. Faith without the works of repentance is dead.

James 2:14 Of what benefit is it, my brothers, if a certain one says he has faith but he does not have works? That faith cannot save him, can it? 15 If a brother or a sister is in a naked state and lacking the food sufficient for the day, 16 yet a certain one of YOU says to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,” but YOU do not give them the necessities for [their] body, of what benefit is it? 17 Thus, too, faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.

18 Nevertheless, a certain one will say: “You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith apart from the works, and I shall show you my faith by my works.” 19 You believe there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder. 20 But do you care to know, O empty man, that faith apart from works is inactive? 21 Was not Abraham our father declared righteous by works after he had offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 You behold that [his] faith worked along with his works and by [his] works [his] faith was perfected, 23 and the scripture was fulfilled which says: “Abraham put faith in Jehovah, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he came to be called “Jehovah’s friend.”

This whole saved by grace and faith alone concept is a common picking and choosing by some who do not really understand what it means to be a Christian. Imagine this saved by faith alone believers, what would you have put faith in if your leader Jesus Christ had not performed works?

JESUS already paid the price for your sins when He died on the cross. There is no way you can pay for your sins by good works. Good works does not get you into heaven. You have to REPENT of your sins, then ask God to forgive you. No man on this earth can forgive you of your sins, and you don't have to go through any man on this earth to be forgiven by God. Jesus is our High Priest. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH HIM! There is nothing in the Bible about paying penance. That is made up by man.

There isn't one. Salvation is not by works but by Grace through the shedding of the blood of Jesus. It is not by works but by faith that we are saved. We do good works because we are saved not in order to get saved.
