That is awesome, to be able to fantasize about the perfect society. I look at it like this, if everyone were honest, were of the same mindset on morals and values, we could all live happily ever after.... We would all still be able to be different in our likes, I like pink you like red... and even our dislikes, but we would all have respect for the other because we all would be living by the same set of rules. Belief comes into it, when you have a higher power that you are accountable to. If everyone were emulating Christ in all that they do, say and think, we would not have the problems we have. Unfortunately because we are all mere humans that are sinful, we live in an imperfect society. Not that we can't improve upon it, we can, we just have to all have the same morals and values, what are the odds? Great question though!

My perfect society would be one where everyone is free to express themselves and help others to do the same. I think almost every religion preaches compassion and if people forgot small differences the world could an awesome place.

If there is no Creator/God as you have often proclaimed, then we need to somehow remove the need for real meaning and purpose in our lives that evolution has put there.
Many of us cannot deceive ourselves that we can just invent meaning/purpose for our lives when we know we're just inventing something, e.g. a psychological crutch, to get us through life until we die. We are slaves to a desire, foisted on us by evolution, that we cannot satisfy.
