I don't get it. Christ befriended tax collectors and prostitutes--he rejected NO ONE. He urged everyone to help the poor. There was nothing "First Testament" about Christ, he was the UPGRADE--the word of God directly from God rather than the wishes of God as interpreted and written down by men. So why do today's American Christians ally themselves with the Republicans, who believe helping the poor somehow encourages them to stay poor? (Oh yeah, living on welfare is the high life, let me tell you, anyone would stay with that forever.) Why are we still condemning gays when Christ never condemned them? And lastly, why are liberals, who follow Christ's teachings of compassion, considered Godless? It's clear I have a strong opinion, but I would love a real, intelligent explanation for this. Christ was way cooler and far more forgiving and gentle than this. (He would never say we should deport all the impoverished Mexicans, screw them, it's not their country.) What gives?

what would cause you to turn atheist, hypothetically?

*****This story and question is not intended for any atheist.*****

I'll never forget this experience ever! You can ridicule me all you want, but I know something did happen.

About eight years ago, I was so stressed out. Nothing was going right me. I kept falling down as it seemed. One day I had enough of these problems. I went to my room and remember crying while i sat down on the side of my bed. It was early afternoon. I cannot remember if I closed my eyes at this moment or if I had my eyes opened. My bedroom got so bright! I can hardly describe to convince you or anyone. But my bedroom was so luminous. Sitting next me was a man in a white robe with some kind of rope-like belt. He put his hand on my knee and told me "peace be with you." Then everything vanished! My room was right back to normal. I stopped crying. I couldn't believe what had happened.

Did anyone have an experience like this or another?

I know these aren't original, but they are pretty pressing issues, especially in this day and age.

And please, something other than that lame "free will" argument.

As the Greek sage Epicurus (341-270 BCE) said:
"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

Even the Christian sites admit that the origins are of a pagan nature.

The "FISH" symbol and ACROSTIC both predate the Christian era by a few thousand years!

1. Is it jealousy of US democracy, wealth, freedom?
As claimed by Bush & company.

2. To spread Islamic religion? I
Is that their way to spread their religion? By Kamikaze's or terrorisms? (As claimed by other religious individuals, all Muslims strongly denied this.)

3. Is it due to US years of continuous support on Israelis' regime occupation in the Middle East?
(which unbearable depressions led ones, or the victims and the witnesses commit suicidal attack ?

And this is the opinion of almost all Muslims.

However (except for the majority Palestians & some people/groups in the world) majority of Muslims in the world strongly reject the idea of commiting suicide & attacks on the civilians/innocence as that are against the religion.)

All answers are appreciated, please tell me where you are from.

Thanks.

5-600 dollars for a phone. Yes it does cool stuff. But it's a phone. The fact that people will pay that much money for a phone must mean some horrible fate awaits us.

The main argument I have heard against the theory of evolution is that no one has ever seen evolution is action. Well let me ask you this. Has anyone ever seen creation is action. I sure haven't. I have never been taking a stroll down the sidewalk and all of a sudden, BOOM, a duck pops up out of nowhere. I have never walked outside to get the paper when BOOM, a covette just appears out of nowhere. I can confidently say that there is a lot more evidence to suggest that evolution is happening then there is for stuff just appearing out of nowhere because of an intelligent designer.

In Aug. 06 they found cancer in both my lungs, went back for more test, about two weeks ago. The cancer is gone! The doctor was amazed she did not know what to say, but I did I told her Jesus healed me. The Holy Ghost is the greatest.

My 2 year old baby after months and months at the Childrens Hospital. God healed the baby also. This baby was at deaths door.

During this time I made a plea for prayer in Jesus Name here on R&S many of you prayed the prayer of Faith for us, When we were at our weakest the prayers of the believers bore us up. By his Grace and Mercy Jesus healed us. Praise the Name Of Jesus. Thank you one and all for praying. Bro. Rickey

Again i dont know why so many people think buddha was chineese and people are so misinformed. Buddhism is a great religon from indian origins and the oriental people made the statue of buddha look oriental with the slanted eyes and the short stubby nose I mean my god he looks oriental. And holy crouching tiger hidden dragon they also turned our beloved religon into one big kung fu movie. Watching movie after movie about fighting and how buddhism has nothing to do with fighting or special magical powers, I mean this is sick. What do you people think?????????????????

Why do some religions feel the need to SAVE others? Not that I'm disputing the need for turning people onto God, but when someone tells you that they already know Jesus, let up already.

Maybe it's because I told them I'm Catholic. Yeah, that's probably it, I mean, us Catholics are just a bunch of alcoholics, right? That's sarcasm, people. Once in high school, this Southern Baptist chick had the nerve to tell this sweet Buddhist girl she was going to hell if she didn't believe in Jesus. How does she know?

The best way to turn people onto God is through actions, not words. People don't respond to religion being shoved down their throats, so go volunteer at a soup kitchen or something. Show them what it means to be a child of God, instead of a pain in the butt.

I hope I haven't offended anyone, but that chick didn't think twice about hurting little Sindu's feelings. That's not very Christian-like.

I have been addressing this issue a lot here with someone who feels that wearing a scarf on my head is possibly offensive to others and if I wish to make them feel more comfortable in my presence, I should not do it. By refusing to compromise this part of my religion, I was told I am being defiant and apparently do not care how others perceive me or my religion. Quite honestly, that is true. I do not feel I should be pressured to alter my beliefs to appease anybody, especially when they are in no way harmful. Is it offensive when Christians wear a cross, when nuns wear a habit or when a priest wears a robe? No? Then why should it be offensive that a Muslim woman wishes to cover her head? I feel it is selfish and ignorant to ask a person to compromise their standards and desire for modesty, just to make others feel better. I feel caving into this kind of pressure violates my right to freedom of religion, and I will not do it.

What are your thoughts on this?

One of the chief complaints from atheists about "religion" (usually meaning christianity) is that it is illogical. This of course means that it is a system of faith rather than proof. The argument runs something like, "God cannot be proven, therefore it is foolish to believe in something you cannot prove". However, religions in general and christianity in particular are belief systems of faith, not proof. Within the christian belief system, faith is sufficient without proof. Atheism demands scientific proof. And yet the atheistic assertion that there is no God is just as unproovable as the belief that there is one. In this atheists violate the standards of their own belief system. Atheism is every bit as much a faith, no more based on logic and reason than is christianity or budism or anything else. In the abscence of proof that there is no God the only way that they can hold the belief that they do is through faith. So is it not atheism, by their own standards, that is illogical?

Mary, the mother of Jesus, the woman with whom God 'begot' Jesus, and made Jesus the 'son of God' should also be equal to God. So why don't Christians say, there are four that bear record in Heaven; the father, the mother, the son, and the holy spirit'? Why is the mother of Jesus ignored in the Bible and not given equal place with God and Jesus as a Godess? Why the Trinity? Why not 'Quadrinity'?

If you have, what color are you? If you haven't, there is a simple version of the test here: http://www.truecolorscareer.com/quiz.asp

And please add your beliefs/lack of.

This is just for fun. I noticed a correlation between religious preferences and the color in my family members....so I was just wondering if it applies to others.
