Again i dont know why so many people think buddha was chineese and people are so misinformed. Buddhism is a great religon from indian origins and the oriental people made the statue of buddha look oriental with the slanted eyes and the short stubby nose I mean my god he looks oriental. And holy crouching tiger hidden dragon they also turned our beloved religon into one big kung fu movie. Watching movie after movie about fighting and how buddhism has nothing to do with fighting or special magical powers, I mean this is sick. What do you people think?????????????????

Its one thing to depict him as oriental in the statues but what about all the fighting and the kung fu movies I mean this is bogus. Movie after movie like ong bak and the stealing of the buddha head I mean this is crazy.

People don't research much. Buddha started in India and spread through the Orient. Much like Christianity began in the Middle East and spread to Europe through Rome. Europeans made Christ look like them in paintings.

And you think Jesus Christ looks like a handsome white man with blue shinning eyes and long flowing hair? Last I heard, he is a middle east person living in an era where long hair is prohibited ..... meaning he should look like Osman Bin Laden with short hair at the best.
Get over it ...... it is the cultural that makes the statues or painting that looks like themselves.

Welcome to reality .....
1. Movies are Bogus items for entertainment.
2. Movie directors love to inject some form of mysticism in there, you know, box office? Would you watch a movie where one person fight the entire triad for a piece of pork chop?

Did you ever see "circle of Iron" written by Bruce Lee. They manage to sneak many Buddhist concepts into a kung fu flick. Watch it and tell me what you think; especially the ending.

People who are afraid to look at the underlying reality that all the world's great religions are esentially one spiritually, though the temporary social teachings change from age to age, feel threatened and the bashing ensues.

You may as well ask why Christ is depicted as a blond blue-eyed white guy.Same logic applies. But as you know--Buddha was Indian--and was a guru to the Hindus--just as Jesus was Jewish--& a guru to the Jews.

The disrespect Buddhism gets in American society is offensive but in that way, I can understand how the other faiths feel when they are disrespected. Ignorance knows no bounds.

Wow, I always thought it was oriental, it seems to have greater following in places like Japan and Hong Kong...
India seems to have a higher hindu population.
That is very interesting thanks.

I'm sure it wouldn't bother Buddha nearly as much as it bothers you.

I'm not buddhist, but okay. I thought buddhist people were mellow anyway. So -- mellow out.
