Why do some religions feel the need to SAVE others? Not that I'm disputing the need for turning people onto God, but when someone tells you that they already know Jesus, let up already.
Maybe it's because I told them I'm Catholic. Yeah, that's probably it, I mean, us Catholics are just a bunch of alcoholics, right? That's sarcasm, people. Once in high school, this Southern Baptist chick had the nerve to tell this sweet Buddhist girl she was going to hell if she didn't believe in Jesus. How does she know?
The best way to turn people onto God is through actions, not words. People don't respond to religion being shoved down their throats, so go volunteer at a soup kitchen or something. Show them what it means to be a child of God, instead of a pain in the butt.
I hope I haven't offended anyone, but that chick didn't think twice about hurting little Sindu's feelings. That's not very Christian-like.

You didn't offend me at all, cause I agree with you 100%, thats why there are so many people out there that wants nothing to do with God, they hear it to much in words and very little in action. When Jesus was here He taught with love and compassion, He didn't disrepect anyone He welcome them. He taught but He showed it in His actions to the people. less talk and more action I am 100% for that, just maybe the ones who were at one time interested just might turn back again down the right path..yeah there is alot of them out there too that do that..I try not to and hope I never have..God Bless

Well, let's not let emotion be the arbiter of truth. You wrote:

Jesus is the one who taught that He was the only way, and that the only way was through the new birth. If that bothers you, then your actual beef if with Christ and His apparent "narrow-mindedness." Also, not having been present at the scene, I can only guess about whether or not this "southern baptist chick" was rude or not. If it was a two way conversation and questions were being asked, there's not a thing wrong with it.
Lastly, the notion that we should not use words to convert is a bit misinformed. How shall they hear without a preacher? Let's say we do a great job of making the Gospel attractive with service to mankind. Don't they still need to hear? Aren't some buddhists wonderful servant minded people? Also, what's wrong with exposing the errors of any church, Catholic or not? Do you only hear what you want and turn away your ear from the rest?

The main lesson that jewish sages and rabbis teach to the youth is to act like a good person and do good deeds. There are no groups to convert nonjews into jews. However, if a nonjew is extremely enthusiastic about becoming a jew and wants to do so with all their heart and soul, then yes there are people to assist him along the way. Christians however, have missionaries. They give out fliers and etc. and even send out cd's in the mail.
So basically I agree with the jewish way of thinking, and apparently u do to.(not to say u should be a jew, just showing how u share a common view)."actions speak louder than words (***or propaganda etc.)"

Maybe. But getting on yahoo answers to dis this baptist chick isn't very Christian-like either.
Perhaps you could give her a call and ask to meet her over coffee? Then the two of you could talk - you could talk about the importance of doing good works to show the world the love of Christ and the Southern Baptist chick could talk about the importance of clearly proclaiming the truth of God to a lost world.
I think you both would learn something from that conversation if you came at it with a spirit of humility understanding that if you love Jesus you are a child of God and you are both parts of the same body.

I had the same frustrating issues because im muslim. My sister is catholic. I do respect people's decision on their reliegion. If they want to know about Islam they can ask. They dont need to critisize.
Glad you said something about that.

Your partially right, that actions speak louder than words. I mean, in the words of St. Francis "Always preach the Gospel. When necessary, use words." However, in the matter of saving others, we don't want to shove it down their throat, but if we truly love others, we want them to be saved as well and live in Eternal Life in Heaven.

Some people aren't very good communicators. Some people are just plain mean. Some people mean well and are taken the wrong way.
People need to watch what comes out of their mouths. Bad choices of words can hurt even if it is meant well by the other person. I agree with you!
