I see it stated quite often here that Atheists simply don't WANT to believe in god because then they would have to 'repent' or 'change their lifestyle'.

Following that premise would I then, if I decided that god exists, have to start being immoral since I am now a quite moral person? Would I have to repent of my charity work, decide not to go read to kids twice a week, take back all the money and time I have donated, not love my family and do all that I can to help them? Would I have to start commiting crimes? What exactly would I have to change?

Or is that premise based on the idea that no one could possibly be a good, caring person if they didn't believe in eternal reward or punishment? Are Christians seriously that bad? Do they really NEED the concept of eternity in order to be good people here on Earth?

Is the sole reason to be moral for eternal reward? And if not, then why all the comments about not wanting to believe and follow god's rules?

I think I'm an atheist, and would like some help getting the facts straight.

So, okay I have no self-worth because that does not fit into the religion of evolution.

I'm allowed to do whatever I want (because I have no morals being that I'm godless). But I'm not allowed to think whatever I want? What if I want to think of reality in a certain way? Would Richard Dawkins be pissed or would he allow that?

Oh, and when I'm praying to Richard Dawkins, how should I address him? Cause I know he doesn't like the God surname. Should I call him Sir Richard Dawkins, or just simply "his holiness?"

Just trying to make sure I do things right so I don't go to "atheist's hell" (you know, using my imagination).

as a seventh day adventist, I am very curious about other religions. I am very curious about why you worship Sunday instead of Saturday. For instance, we believe in Saturday (Sabbath) because God said to worship it because he rested on that day. I am also intrigued to understand why it is that when you keep the Sunday, you don't keep it the same way Adventists and Jewish do Sabbath. In our day, we usually don't watch TV or go shopping until sundown and try to keep ourselves focused in God - related Subjects.

I am NOT judging you! I am very curious to learn about other religions =) But do not get mad at me, I am only 13!

A. The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is God (cf. John 8:58, 10:38, 14:10; Col. 2:9).

B. The Bible clearly teaches that the Holy Spirit is God (cf. Acts 5:3–4, 28:25–28; 1 Cor. 2:10–13).

C. Everyone agrees that references of the Father in the Bible is a reference to God.

D. The Bible also clearly teaches that there is only one God (Mark 12:29, 1 Cor. 8:4–6, Jas. 2:19).

In the Bible, Jesus tells his apostles to baptize "in the name [notice, singular, not plural] of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matt. 28:19). This is a proof-text: three distinct Persons united in the one divine name. In 2 Corinthians 13:14, Paul writes, "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." We see this same unity of divine Persons in 1 Corinthians 12:4–11, Ephesians 4:4–6, and 1 Peter 1:2–3.

This is why the Early Church taught the doctrine of the Trinity, and why it is believed today.

Having watched the BBC Panorama documentary on scientology I have to say that I was shocked!
Tommy Davis' behavior was completely unacceptable the way he wouldn't let John Sweeny talk and was always in his face was an obvious admition that they have something to hide.
Does anyone else agree?

P.S Please no links from scientologists showing the "real side" of the documentary on YouTube because I have seen it. Just some real answers would be nice.

What are people's contentions regarding abortion. Personally, I believe that I don't posses the right to intrude into their personal lives, and don't have a moral aversion towards it. Besides, the people applying for and undergoing abortions are the people we probably don't want siring offspring.

It is very easy to find that both the Jehovah Witnesses and Muslims reject the following Christian beliefs: the Trinity, the divinity of Jesus, and the ordained priesthood. Now, knowing that Islam well predates Jehovah Witnesses, wouldn't it be logical to conclude that the Jehovah Witnesses borrowed these beliefs from the Muslims?

What kind of a fool debates what they think is a faerie tale? I certainly don't debate the merit of Santa Clause. Are they just brain damaged beyond compare or are they seeking salvation in the guise of ridicule.

Let's say you received a revelation that, yes, Yahveh, God of the Bible, is our Lord and Creator and the Bible is His literal Word. No doubt possible, it's all true and you somehow got convinced of it.

What do you do?

Do you accept Jesus as your Saviour, to get eternal life and avoid the pit of hell?

Or do you refuse to bow down to the evil dictator out of solidarity for the human race which He is oppressing through slavery and eternal torture?

French historian Francois Gautier puts its like this "Let it be said right away: the massacres perpetrated by Muslims in India are unparalleled in history, bigger than the holocaust of the Jews by the Nazis; or the massacre of the Armenians by the Turks; more extensive even than the slaughter of the South American native populations by the invading Spanish and Portuguese."
Nobody knows how many deaths have there has been over 700 year span of islamic rule over india but estimates are inbetween 70-80 million and tens of millions more converted to muslims. Many of these were recorded by the muslims themselves or there secrataries at the time they were committing these crimes. http://www.hinduholocaust.com/HinduHolocaustMuseum.htm
look under hindu killers and the muslim rulers at that time chronicled there own deeds.

I have a problem....
I have been seemingly falling farther and farther from God...and I don't know where its leading....all I know is that I have done and seriously contemplated things that I would never, ever have before(suicide is not one of them),....but it just seems that the wall between me and the rest of the world
is crumbling....I was extremely, on the fringe right conservative,...but my heart hated no one...Then I was undone by people who hated me....they ruined my life....took everything...even my dignity....I have given up on God....it seems he doesn't care or wants to listen....and I can't lock myself up forever.....My new theme song seems to be 'Runnin with the Devil' by Van Halen....I need advice on what to do....because the time is short...and inaction is not an option
