That may have been the Heavens Gate people,and I believe it was pudding. They thought that a ship was waiting for them hiding behind a comet,sorry it's stupid but true. There was also the Jonestown massacre which was poisoned Kool-Aid but that was in Guyana in like the 70's.Look up Heavens Gate on google and I think you will find the one you're talking about.

You're mixing up two different things.
Kool-Aid = Jim Jones and Jonestown massacre.
Nikes and black clothes = Heaven's Gate. They were going to "catch a comet to take them to Heaven".

You have two cults confused with each other Jim Jones happened in Guyana in the 70's or 80's (Kool-Aid) and then Heaven's Gate was in the Nike's don't remember the year.

you are combining two similar stories.
1. Jonestown Massacre, In 1978 Jim jones and a bunch of fruit loops in his cult all drank poisoned grape kool aid.
2. Heavens gate, 1997 led by Marshall Applewhite. These fruit loops drank poison covered themselves in shouds put on their black nike and went to the big sleep. They thought they were going to hitch a ride to the next galaxy on the Hale Bop comet.
