What kind of a fool debates what they think is a faerie tale? I certainly don't debate the merit of Santa Clause. Are they just brain damaged beyond compare or are they seeking salvation in the guise of ridicule.

I think your avatar says it all. You just want to assimilate us into your collective. Take away our individuality, so we can't think for ourselves.

Resistance is NOT futile.

People are entitled to their opinions. And it's good for people to argue their opinions. That's how science works: you come up with a theory, and support it with evidence.

People don't debate the merit of Santa Claus because he is a definitively mythical figure. However, more complex issues like the existance of Buddha, God, Jesus, or Brahma are debatable because nobody yet has been able to come up with difinitive proof for the existance or non-existance of any of those.

Personally, I think the athiests are closest to disproving religion in general. But until they have some hard evidence, I think I'm staying Jewish.

It's the people who make claims without evidence that hinder human development, and the people who trash other peoples' more well-supported beliefs that cause wars.

That could be because no one is going around fiercely trying to convince the rest of the world that Santa is real and that if you don't agree you will suffer eternal torment. Or maybe it's because no one is trying to make laws that say you must do as Santa said even if you refuse to believe he is real. Maybe because no one ever started wars in Santa's name.

You get the idea. It's not rocket science.

Best insult ever to an atheist:

"Atheists are more miserable and profane than even a blood-drinking Satanist. How so? Even the Satanist concedes to the metaphysical world, to the ontological soul. That atheists deny the Creationist’s Supreme-Creator, God, is not the measure of their ignorance, but that Atheism denies a substrate which underlies mere phenomena and the flux of materiality.
Creationists believe the complexity and beauty of the cosmos is the result of the will of a sentient being, supreme and before which nothing is,…this position is wrong. Worse still on a level immeasurable, is the position of the Atheist who thinks the complexity and entirety of the universe is the happenstance of cosmic flatulence, akin to apes on typewriters, given enough time, eventually producing Shakespearean plays.
Atheists are the most miserable lot that exists, they look for Subjectivity in the objective world of magnitude and measure and, not finding same therein, deny the Subjective spirit which is the basis for all metaphysics. Like the man who, walking outside his own house, and looking back in upon his window and declaring ‘nobody lives here’, or the child who looks for a signal inside the radio receiver, or for little-peoples ‘inside the television set’, the Atheist is possessed fully by agnosis, which in its fullness, is the praise of death, of mortality most miserable. Their alter is the body doomed to the grave, their prayer is for sensual pleasures as highest, their God is death. Their salvation from suffering is the desire for non-existence (vibhava) which could never come.”–Webmaster www.attan.com

You might debate the existence of Santa Claus if Santa Claus believers were attempting to destroy civilization by knocking down skyscrapers, eradicating the teaching of science, banning birth control and condoms in aids ridden areas, telling people not to take immunizations, spreading hatred and violence against homosexuals and non Santa Claus believers etc.

Well we are certainly smarter than trolls. What are you, like 13-14?

And if Santa were wanting to replace science class with teaching about Gum Drop Faeries, I would have an issue with him too.

We debate something that is a major influence on the world. We are in fact trying to change the world.

"I condemn false prophets, I condemn the effort to take away the power of rational decision, to drain people of their free will--and a hell of a lot of money in the bargain. Religions vary in their degree of idiocy, but I reject them all. For most people, religion is nothing more than a substitute for a malfunctioning brain."

"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes."

-Gene Roddenberry, Creator of Star Trek (1921-1991).

I think it has to do with any religion.
If someone walks up to you and tells you...hmmm...your to white to be a white person. You would debate it. It's part of human nature to debate things. Either for a better cause or to make things worse. Heck look at animals. They debate over hunting grounds and so on.
Welcome to the wonderful World!

Dumb when used in an offensive way id defined as, " Incapable of using speech; mute."

I have yet to meet an Atheist or read the words of an Atheist that fits such a definition.

Though, in using such a term without correctness or skill, places you in the direct definition of ignorant and aggressive.

You dont debate the merit of Santa Clause because nobody believes in Santa Clause!

If people were basing laws, and calling you foolish based off the teachings of Santa Clause, I think you'd debate it!
